Grand Prix Nashville

On behalf of The Next Level Games, allow me to thank you for your interest in judging at Grand Prix Nashville 2014. Below, you will find all the information you need in order to apply.

Our Head Judge will be Jared Sylva (L4 - Virginia) and our Support Judge will be Scott Marshall (L5 - Colorado).

We are currently negotiating room blocks for two of the nearby hotels -- the Omni and the Hilton. More information to come once details are finalized. 

What We Expect

Judges at Grand Prix Nashville are expected to be professional, punctual, and current on all relevant rules and policies. This includes familiarity with the Comprehensive Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Magic Tournament Rules. As representatives of The Next Level Games and the Magic Judge program, judges are expected to conduct themselves professionally at all times.

Judges will be expected to adhere to the dress code of an official Magic Judge shirt, black pants, black belt, and comfortable black shoes. Judge shirts will be available upon request for staff.

Applicants of all levels are welcome to apply, though there is a strong preference for Level 2+ judges. Level 1 judges on staff will be assigned to judge side events.

What You Can Expect

Judges at Grand Prix Nashville can expect to be treated respectfully and professionally and, most importantly, to have fun. Grand Prix are a valuable opportunity for all judges to meet new friends and improve their craft.

Judges will be compensated in sealed packs of Khans of Tarkir. Level 3+ judges will receive 54 packs per day; Level 1 and 2 judges will receive 36 packs per day. All judges who volunteer for at least two days will receive a selection of judge foils from our friends at Wizards of the Coast.

Judges will also be provided a daily stipend to defray the cost of meals and lodging based on level:

• Level 1 judges will receive $80 per day judged.
• Level 2 judges will receive $90 per day judged.
• Level 3+ judges will receive $100 per day judged.

Judge Testing

Judge certification for Level 1 and 2 will be available at the Grand Prix. Please consult the Judge Level requirements before requesting to test. Testing will only be offered to judges on staff for the Grand Prix.

If you wish to test for Level 2, you must take a Level 2 Practice Exam. Once you have done so, please send the exam ID number to nicholas.sabin@gmail.com
