Acceptance Messages: First, thank you for applying to be a part of GP Vegas! We have almost 700 applications to get through! It's incredibly encouraging to see that more than 1 in 10 judges have offered to join us. We have several complex decisions to make now, but we're committed to getting you all the information you need in a timely manner. Here's how this will work:

If you have applied, you will receive a message from our staff manager indicating your application's status (accepted, declined, or standby) . These are going to several people at once, so check your junk mail folder, too. Messages indicating application's status and offering specific days are expected to be sent by Monday, March 16 (this is outdated - new expected date is Sunday, March 22). Please don't ask about your status until after that time unless there's something strange we should know about.

If you are accepted, your message will contain a link to a form. That form is where you do three things 1) Confirm the days you are working and/or available for standby. 2) Confirm the kind of compensation you want for each day. 3) Confirm whether your hotel will be arranged by our staff or on your own. That confirmation MUST be completed by April 15. If it's not, we may need to rescind your acceptance and pass your slot to another available judge.

After we have your confirmation, we will send you a direct, only-to-you e-mail summarizing your event days, comp, and hotel details, including roommate. These will take some time. We're automating as much as we can, but please be patient.

Many people have asked about being added to the event in JudgeApps. That will happen, but our first priority is the selection and notification of staff in more detail than JudgeApps allows.

Update as of January 16:

Store Credit and Preorders: If you wish to order cards using the store credit you will earn at the event and pick them up at the event, we will have a process to accommodate you. Right now we're still getting everyone on staff, but we will communicate a process with plenty of time to place orders prior to the event.

Update as of December 29:

International judges: International judges legally residing in or visiting the United States will be able to be a part of this event. As with other judges on staff, they will need to complete an appropriate tax form, likely a W-8. Clarification: We will not be filling out any visa requests for judges.  They are responsible for providing their own route for legal entry and occupancy into the country.  

Rolling acceptances: We have begun accepting L3+ judges and specifically identified scorekeepers (with proven experience in events with 1000+ players). Additional rolling acceptances will follow in the coming weeks.

Update as of December 21:

Any staff who wish to arrange rooms with non-staff: All staff have two options. Option 1 is to accept the shared room provided by CFB. Option 2 is to recieve $40 per day worked added to your comp. Staff can then use this amount to arrange a room on their own. These options apply to judges who live local to the venue/area as well (sort of just works like a bonus for those folks).

Eligibility of minors: We're sorry, but we cannot accept minors (under the age of 18) on staff for this event.

Requests for alternative compensation options: Many have asked if some amount of KTK block product can be shifted into cash or additional MMA2 product instead. Unfortunately the most flexibility we can offer is the choice of which type of comp for each day worked as previously outlined (cash OR store credit OR product).

We are looking for staff to fill many different roles.

Floor Judge:

For all judges, primary duties are floor judging, team leading, side event, and similar roles (including ad hoc administrative support) on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Event Specialist:

An event specialist is someone who serves immediate customer needs in an event support role. Examples of where you would be working are Registration, VIP, Prize Wall, and the Customer Service Station.

Associate Event Manager:

Leads a team of Event Specialists.  This person is often the first point of contact for Customer Service issues. Examples of the roles you would have are Stage Lead, Registration Lead, VIP Lead, and Prize Wall Lead.

Other Event Roles:

If you are a L4+ judge or a scorekeeper qualified to handle more than 1,000 players, we are very interested in ensuring you join us here. If you haven't already applied, many of you will be personally recruited by our Staff Manager, Sean Catanese. If you have already applied, Sean will be reaching out to you individually with details for consideration.

Hotel Sponsorship:

Everyone on staff will have a hotel room shared with one other staff member, checking in night before first scheduled shift & checking out day following last scheduled shift.  The hotel will be located within walking distance of the convention center. Sponsored by Channel Fireball.

Many have asked if hotel sponsorship will apply if they bring their significant others or wish to room with friends who are not on staff. We are currently in the process of determining whether this is possible, and will clarify as soon as we have more information.

Compensation: 

All Compensation is based on role.  Since everyone’s needs are different, we have decided to give all staff members the option of either cash or sealed product compensation.  You may opt for either the cash amount or the product lot for each day that you work.  You are welcome to mix and match (i.e. 2 days cash / 2 days product).  We hope this will make it easier for you to be a part of this historic event!  (All payments will be made via check on site).

We will ask you to lock in your choice before the event.  If no choice is made you will receive your comp all in product.

For any event day working (not preparation days, see below) you will be compensated at your Judge Level or better depending on your role.

Please indicate in your application which days you are available to work. Days can start as early as 8am and run as late as midnight. Expected shift length will be 8-10 hours on Thursday and Friday and 10-12 hours on Saturday and Sunday.

All staff for Sunday are expected to be available to work until 8pm. If you must leave early, your compensation may be reduced. Please contact the Staff Manager as soon as you know about a possible conflict.

All staff will be required to complete appropriate tax forms. Many have asked about this requirement and how judges from outside the US or in similar circumstances may be affected. We are currently in the process of determining a course of action in this regard, and will clarify as soon as we have more information.

Preparation days:

We will setting up and doing prep work for the week leading up to the event.  There will also be lots of things to prepare before the event starts on Thursday.  We plan on starting our Prep work on Monday before the GP. This means you can spend up to a week with us!

If you're working a continuous stretch of days, for each day you come before Thursday we will extend your hotel stay to accommodate you. If there's a gap in the days you're scheduled (which is fairly common), we will cover your hotel for your days on the main event and add $40 to your total compensation for each of the preparation days worked.

For compensation on those preparation days, we offer you your choice of:
