SE USA Winter Regional Judge Conference

I am excited to announce, in cooperation with Super Games Inc., The SE USA Winter Regional Judge Conference on December the 6th, 2014.

Judge conferences represent an opportunity to socialize with regional judges, but more importantly they are a fantastic venue for education. Come see old friends and new, all while hearing seminars and attending workshops designed strengthen and hone your judging skills. Your peers will be presenting seminars and work groups on a wide variety of topics, so there will surely be presentations of relevance regardless of your level or position in the program. This is a standalone conference, not associated with any event. This will allow you to focus all of your efforts on the topics at hand without being distracted by other duties or the anticipation of such.

EVERYONE is welcome, regardless of level or geographic location. Come one, come all! That said, if you do plan to attend, please be sure to apply here so we have an accurate head count in advance.

SCHEDULING

The conference will run from 2pm through 7pm, and will be followed by a judge dinner immediately afterwards at a glorious TBD location (maybe even where that magical GP will be held! I doubt it though).

PRESENTING

A conference is only as strong as it's presenters, and this one will be no different. We need you, YES YOU, to consider what skills or expertise you have that you may be willing to share in seminar or workshop format with your colleagues. Please email Nicholas Zitomer at Nik.Zitomer@gmail.com if you are interested or willing to present a topic. Preference will be greatly in favor of interactive sessions. We want active learning to be the norm, so get brainstorming on some topics!

FOIL SUPPORT

Our leaders in all things Magic, Wizards of the Coast, are graciously rewarding attendance of certified judges at this event with a selection of judge foils. The number of foils distributed will be dependent upon the number of sessions attended as well as completion of a survey to provide feedback to the presenters.

In order to guarantee that you will receive foils at this event, you must pre-register. There will be no exceptions for any reason. Judges who register after the application deadline of October 31st, 2014 will be welcome to attend, but will not receive foils.

HOTEL

A block of rooms has been negotiated for this event at a hotel very close to the conference site, as well as other local dining, shopping, and attractions. The hotel is the Hampton Inn/Alpharetta-Roswell, 10740 Westside Way, Alpharetta, GA 30009. Hotel is $69 +13% tax for 2 double beds or a king-sized bed. Each room has a sofa bed as well, and all are quite large and clean (visited the site personally to check). Hot breakfast is included with your stay. The hotel also does not charge for any additional guests, so you can really get a deal here if you pack some people in. Check in time is 3PM, check out by 12PM. This is for the night of 12/6/2014 only.
