On behalf of gamekeeperonline & Spellkeeper Events, I'd like to thank you for your interest in judging at Grand Prix Montreal.

We are planning on having lots of fun, meeting old and new friends, working hard and bringing all these fun experiences home.
All this would not be possible without YOU! So please apply and join us!

Applications for Grand Prix Montreal close on May 1st with all acceptances posted by May 8th.  This event will have rolling acceptances to help allow for better travel planning for our Judges.  If you need special consideration or have unique circumstances that don't fit into this time frame please reach out to us to discuss.

The Head Judge for Grand Prix Montreal is Carlos Ho.

Expectations:
Judging is fun, but it’s also a lot of work. While working, judges may be expected to help with the following, and more:

-     Providing great customer service

-     Taking Judge calls

-     Crowd control

-     Venue setup / Teardown (Tables, chairs, table cloths, pairings boards, table numbers, etc)

-     Picking up garbage

-     Pushing in chairs

-     Prize distribution

-     Attending to artists

-     Deck registration for VIPs
-     Working at the Info Booth or Prize Wall
-     Other event needs assigned by your team leader or staff member

Dress code:

All Judge and Staff members are expected to dress professionally throughout the weekend.
Judges are expected to wear the button down Magic Judges shirt, black pants with a black belt, black socks and shoes.

Staff members in non-judging roles will wear a GameKeeper staff shirt, black pants with a black belt, black socks and shoes.
Remember that you are representing the judge program, the tournament organizer, and most importantly yourself.  Please put your best foot forward with your uniform and personal hygiene.

Sponsorship Options:

Judges can apply to Volunteer at Grand Prix Montreal or to be a Standby Judge.

Volunteer applicants can be of any Judge level and will be compensated by level (described below). Up to six booster boxes can be received on site and any remaining product will be shipped to your home if you live in Canada or the continental United States.  If you feel that this is an inconvience or you are traveling from abroad and would like to discuss options please let us know via email in advance.

Standby applicants must be Level 2 or higher.  All standby applicants will receive free entry into Grand Prix Montreal unless activated. Activated standby Judges will be compensated as a Volunteer for the day or days worked.

Compensation:
Volunteer Judges will be compensated two booster boxes of a current set in english per level per day worked.
No separate hotel or lunch compensation is planned at this time.

Examples:

A Level 1 Judge working two days will receive 4 booster boxes.
A Level 2 Judge working three days will receive 12 booster boxes.
A Level 3 Judge working three days will receive 18 booster boxes.

Level 3+ Judges who worked Grand Prix Vancouver and work Grand Prix Montreal will also receive a $350 CAD bonus for their continued support of Spellkeeper Events.  Note that the same is planned for L3+ Judges working both Grand Prix Montreal and Grand Prix Quebec City.  This bonus is paid at the conclusion of each Grand Prix and Judges should have worked at least 2 full shifts at each Grand Prix.

Goodies:
Each Judge and staff member is guarenteed to receive one Grand Prix Montreal Playmat.

There will be a Judge Dinner on Sunday night.  Venue and details to be determined.

Accommodations:

Hotel accomodations aren't included in Judge compensation plans for Grand Prix Montreal.
We will however be sharing any special group rates we coordinate.

The nearest hotel is the Hotel Bonaventure (formerly the Hilton Bonaventure) that shares the same building as the event.  A number of other hotels are within short walking distance of the venue.

Staff and Scorekepeer Positions:
We are also looking for event staff and scorekeepers for Grand Prix Montreal.  If you are experienced with these roles and are interested in working on stage please note that in your application.  These positions can be for the full weekend or for as little as one day if you prefer to floor judge other days.  Compensation will be discussed individually but will be commensurate with experience and Judge level.

April 24:
The negotiated rate at the staff hotel was higher than originally expected.  Judges electing to stay at the staff hotel will receive an additional $20 cash per day to help offset this rate.  Details on the hotel block and this added comp will be posted to the forums soon.

The staff hotel is:

Montreal Marriott Chateau Champlain

1050 de la Gauchetiere West
