TRAVEL
We do not provide travel or hotel sponsorship for floor judges at our events. However, we will provide information about any room blocks we arrange with nearby hotels.
EXPECTATIONS
Judges volunteering at a Channel Fireball event are expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents, each of which can be found at the Magic Judges Document Center. Judges are also expected to behave in a professional manner at all times, as representatives of Channel Fireball and the Magic Judge program. This includes arriving on time and in appropriate attire.
Judges should arrive no later than 8:30 AM on days they are scheduled to judge and are expected to stay until the conclusion of the Swiss rounds. If you must arrive later than 8:30 or may have to leave before the conclusion of Swiss (to catch a ride, for instance), please note that in your application.
The dress code for judges at our events is a tucked-in judge shirt, black pants (dress pants are preferred; jeans are acceptable), a belt, and comfortable shoes (both preferably black). Judges should not be in uniform while off-duty, including during breaks and while trading.
TESTING
Testing opportunities are available at this event. If you are interested in testing, please include this in your application, or contact jessdunks@channelfireball.com.
COMPENSATION
Certified judges volunteering at our WMCQ will receive the following compensation per day worked:
- $150 (mailed as a check after the event, pending completion of a Federal W9 tax form.)
- $200 in ChannelFireball.com store credit (usable either online or at the event.)
HOW TO APPLY
Judges can apply by clicking the "Apply for this Event!" link toward the top of the page. Please answer all questions in the application form.
If you need to work both days in order to attend this event, please mention it in your application. Due to reduced staff needs for Sunday, judges may be accepted for Saturday only.
The application window for this event will close March 16th. Judges wishing to apply for this event after the application window has closed will need to contact Jess Dunks at <JessDunks@ChannelFireball.com>.
