EXPECTATIONS

Judges at StarCityGames.com Open Weekend events are expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at the Magic Judges Document Center. As representatives of StarCityGames.com and the Magic Judge Program, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. This includes arriving on time and in appropriate attire. 

Judges are expected to arrive no later than 9:00 am on Saturday and 8:45 am on Sunday (8:30 am Sunday for Head Judges) and are expected to stay until the conclusion of the Swiss rounds. If you anticipate being unable to arrive by the call time or needing to leave before 8:00 pm, you must include that information in your application.

Judges at the StarCityGames.com Open Weekend will be provided a StarCityGames.com judge shirt, which is expected to be returned at the conclusion of the event. The Judge should arrive with black pants, black belt, and black, comfortable shoes. During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, judges should remove, or cover, their Judge shirt.

COMPENSATION

Compensation at StarCityGames.com Opens is based on judge certification level and is paid in Compensation Units (CU).

• Level 1 Judges will receive 1.5 CU/day staffed.
• Level 2 Judges will receive 2 CU/day staffed.
• Level 3+ Judges will receive 2.5 CU/day staffed.

Each CU can be redeemed for one of the following:

• $76 (Requires a completed United States tax form)
• $100 in StarCityGames.com store credit

Uncertified Judges are staffed as candidates for StarCityGames.com Open Weekend events and receive one Compensation Unit per day. If someone staffed as a candidate certifies before the event, he or she may choose to withdraw, or remain in a candidate position.

Judges and Candidates also receive a gift including a free month of StarCityGames.com Premium access, a StarCityGames.com Invitational winner token, an assortment of StarCityGames.com Judge Rewards tokens, and five (5) StarCityGames.com Judge Reward Points for each day on staff. HOW TO APPLY

Click on the "Apply Now!" link toward the top of the page. Please answer all questions in this application form.

If your judge level is not currently correct on JudgeApps when you apply, please mention this in your application.

Due to staff needs, some judges may be accepted for Saturday or Sunday only. If you need to be on staff for both days in order to attend this event, please mention this in your application.

The application window for this event will close at 11:59 PM Eastern time on 12/21/2015. Judges wishing to apply for this event after the application window has closed will need to contact us at Judge@starcitygames.com.  

Please note that late applications will be considered at a lower priority than those received during the official application window.

SALES ASSISTANTS

The StarCityGames.com Dealer Booth is looking for judges who are interested in coming in early to work as Sales Assistants. You would be expected to arrive at 7:45 am and be available to work at the dealer booth until 9:45 am on Saturday and/or Sunday. Each selected judge would receive an additional $20 payable by check or $25 StarCityGames.com store credit for each day worked.

TESTING

Magic Judge Program testing for Level 1 and 2 is available at this event.

Anyone wishing to test for Level 1 must meet the following criteria:

• Complete the pre-test requirements listed at the Official Resources page.
• Apply to be on staff as a candidate

Judges who wish to be considered for testing for Level 2 must meet the following criteria:

•  Complete the pre-test requirements listed at the Official Resources page.
•  Take a Level 2 Practice Exam and e-mail the exam ID and score to judge@starcitygames.com.
•  Apply to be on staff

TRAVEL

We do not provide travel or hotel sponsorship for floor judges at our Open Weekends. Information on room blocks and local hotels will be located in the Event Fact Sheet as it becomes available.
