Cross-Canada Judge Conference

Hello, judges!

It is with great pleasure that Darren Gamble and I invite you to the Cross-Canada Judge Conference! This judge conference will take place on Friday, July 26 in Calgary, AB, to act as a lead-in to the Grand Prix.

But wait, there’s more! What makes this a Cross-Canada Judge Conference? Well, due to the vastness of our region, we realize that most of our judges won’t be able to make it to Calgary. Therefore, we’re pleased to offer a SECOND location: Ottawa, ON! Thanks to a new invention called the “Internets”, we will be able to host a video conference where judges at one end can see, hear, participate in, and ask questions about the seminar being presented at the other end!

Judge Conferences are the occasion to meet new people and see old friends from all around the world, to learn and teach, to share your tips and spread knowledge. They are one of the best opportunities to get good practices and updated information passed amongst the judge community. During this conference, short seminars or workshops focused on one aspect of the judge program will be presented by volunteers.

The Judge Conference is open to everyone, regardless of Judge Level, or whether you are judging at the Grand Prix.  If you are interested in attending, please apply here so that we will have an accurate headcount.

Time and Location

The conference will be held in Calgary at Trilogy Games, #2, 7005 18th Street SE. In Ottawa, the conference will be held at the Jock Turcot University Centre, 85 University, Rooms 206 & 207. The event will start at 10AM MDT, 12PM EDT. For those who are scheduled for to judge on Friday at the Grand Prix, we are looking into carpooling options to get you to the venue.

Foils

Wizards of the Coast is supporting this conference by offering a selection of judge foils for participants. The number of judge foils you will receive is based on the number of seminars you attend.

Please apply to this event so we can have an accurate headcount for foils. If you do not apply to this event by July 5^th, we cannot guarantee that you will receive any.

Seminars

Are you interested in sharing your knowledge, wisdom, and experience with other judges? Please let us know at jasonwong9@gmail.com and darrenlgamble@gmail.com and include your topic, a short summary, and required materials. If you wish to present but do not have a particular topic in mind, please let us know anyway! We will find something for you. You might also want to consider some of the following topics:
