Grand Prix: Charlotte

Hello, judges, and thank you for your interest in judging at Grand Prix: Charlotte! Below, you will find all the information you need to apply for the GP. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact us at <judge@starcitygames.com>.

The Head Judge for this event will be Chris Richter (L4 - Madison, WI).

All L2+ judges are eligible to judge on the main event. L1 judges and uncertified judges will be assigned to public events.

Please note that we will host a judge conference on Friday, February 22nd! More details on that event can be found at <http://apps.magicjudges.org/events/186/>

Please note that Grand Prix: Charlotte will be held on the same day as Grand Prix: Quebec City. Judges are encouraged to apply for both events and to indicate a preference in their applications. Star City Games and Alberta Premier Events will coordinate to ensure that judges who apply to both events receive appropriate consideration and are not double-booked.

The Application Process

Applications for Grand Prix: Charlotte are now closed. We thank you for your interest!

Compensation

Local (L1) and Area (L2) judges will receive 36 packs of Gatecrash for each full day volunteered.

Regional (L3), International (L4), and Professional (L5) judges will receive 54 packs of Gatecrash for each day volunteered. 

All certified judges volunteering for at least two days will receive a selection of promotional foil cards from our friends in the Magic Judge program.

Food, Lodging, and Travel

Each judge will receive a $20 meal stipend per day volunteered.

Star City Games will offer hotel sponsorship to judges on an as-needed basis. Please be clear regarding the nights for which you would require accommodation in order to attend. Judges will not receive a deduction in product compensation for receiving hotel sponsorship.

The nearest airport to GP: Charlotte is Charlotte Douglas International Airport (code CLT). Cab fare from the airport to the convention center is approximately $25.

Judge Certification

Judge certification for L1 and L2 is available at this event. If you are interested in testing, please make explicit mention of this in your application. Before requesting certification, please review the requirements for your desired level and ensure that you have already met the pre-test requirements.
