Event Information
I'm happy to announce that Professional Event Services is soliciting staff for Grand Prix Cincinnati 2014. Grand Prix Cincinnati 2014 will be held March 21 – 23 with Last Chance Grand Prix Trials and Public Events opening on Friday, March 21, 2014. The format is Standard.
The Head Judge for Grand Prix Cincinnati is Jason Lemahieu.
Staff Needs:
We are looking for judges for Friday – Sunday. We will need judges for events starting at noon on Friday and 8:00 AM Saturday and Sunday. We expect Sunday to end around 10:00 PM.
We are NOT in need of stage staff for this event.
We are offering the following levels of judge sponsorship:
Room Sponsorship
Professional Event Services will offer a limited number of Room Sponsorships. Room Sponsorship includes a 2 night stay (Friday and Saturday nights) for Local and Area judges; Regional+ judges may request a third night's sponsorship if needed. Judges may request additional nights at their own expense. Judges who receive Room Sponsorship should be prepared to volunteer for all three days of the event. Note that you have a greater chance of being selected if you don’t select Room Sponsorship. Judges who are selected for Room Sponsorship will also receive the compensation package outlined below. Lastly, the hotel used for the staff may or may not be within walking distance of the venue. You will need to provide your own transportation to and from the venue and the hotel.
NOTE: If you are selected for room sponsorship, it is the judges' sole responsibility for any hotel required security deposits and incidentals. Most hotels require a credit card to be placed on the room for such matters. If you are unable to provide this deposit and incidental refundable fee, you should not accept or apply for room sponsorship.
Volunteer
Volunteer judges can ask to work one, two or three days. Judges who are selected as a Volunteer receive the compensation package outlined.
Standby
Standby judges are a special sponsorship class. Standby judges may not be used to judge at all at the event. If you are selected as a standby judge, you will be informed if you are needed to judge on Saturday and/or Sunday on Friday night. If you are requested to judge, you will receive the compensation package described below. If you are not selected to judge, you will be allowed to play in the Grand Prix free of charge (registration is a base event entry).
Compensation:
Local and Area judges will receive 36 packs of current Magic the Gathering product for each full day you are sponsored.
Regional+ judges will receive 54 packs of current Magic the Gathering product for each day full day you are sponsored.
All certified judges sponsored for at least two days will receive a selection of promotional Judge foil cards from our friends in the Magic Judge program.
Each judge will receive a $20 meal stipend for each day full day you are sponsored.
How to request to volunteer:
To apply, please fill out the application linked to on top of this page. In your application, please include the following information:
- Days you wish to volunteer
- Phone Number, preferably your cell
- If you do require a judge shirt, what size shirt you would want?
- Any special requirements or concerns you have?
The application period begins now and will end on January 24, 2014. This is a firm deadline and late applications will not be considered.
Questions:
If you have any questions related to the event, please send them to mguptil@ix.netcom.com. Questions related to judging at the Grand Prix should be directed to John Alderfer. You can reach John at rodetryp@gmail.com.
