Judge Conduct Committee and the Magic Judge Code

Good afternoon,

I'm proud to announce that we have a new official document and system concerning judge conduct!

The Magic Judge Code is our new code of conduct document. You can find more information about it here: http://blogs.magicjudges.org/conduct/2014/12/01/announcing-the-magic-judge-code/

The Judge Conduct Committee is responsible for addressing concerns raised in this new system. You can find more information about it here: http://blogs.magicjudges.org/conduct/2014/12/01/announcing-the-judge-conduct-committee/

The Magic judge feedback form is a tool to collect reports of awesome and less-than-awesome conduct from the wide spectrum of our community's members. Players, organizers, and judges alike are welcome to use the form. You can find out more about the feedback form here: http://blogs.magicjudges.org/conduct/2014/12/01/announcing-magic-judge-feedback-form/

A companion thread for this announcement, where you can ask questions and discuss with other judges will be active shortly in the Community Corner section of the JudgeApps forums.

Sincerely,
Sean Catanese
L4, Seattle/USA
Judge Conduct Committee Chair

Judge Conduct Committee and the Magic Judge Code

It's my pleasure to announce the first selections for the Judge Conduct Committee!

For the 2015 term, the Judge Conduct Committee includes:

Sean Catanese (L4, Washington/USA, Committee Chair)
Scott Marshall (L5, Colorado/USA)
Cristiana Dionisio (L4/RC, Italy)
Eric Levine (L3, Massachusetts/USA)
Haitao Jia (L3, China)
Johanna Virtanen (L3/RC, Finland)
Michael Wiese (L3/RC, Germany)
Jeremie Granat (L3, Switzerland)
Alejandro Raggio (L3, Argentina)
Andy Heckt (non-voting observer)

This selection process was not easy. More than 40 L3+ judges applied, and from among them we could have formed several similarly skilled and fair Committees. As the Committee moves forward with its work, there may be opportunities for those who were not selected to serve to still help with this process.

One of the features of this system is how the Committee refreshes regularly. I am personally looking forward to seeing others who are not in the list above continue to lead these efforts in years to come.

Well, that was fast. The first term of the Judge Conduct Committee is now complete! We’ve got several pieces to touch on in this update, and it’s been delayed a bit (but not too long). We have updates to the Magic Judge Code, some new and departing Committee members, and a year-end statistical summary.

Have a look: http://blogs.magicjudges.org/conduct/2016/01/05/2016-term-starts/
