Hello

Does any of you have a free iOS alternative for the android judge core app? I did find mtg guide but unfortunatly, that is not a free app.

Thanks in advance

MTG Guide is worth the investment, in my experience

+1 for MTGJudge, it's $5 (I think) that has repaid the investment many, many times over for me.

Apparently the draft timer is not present on the iphone version. Can someone give me an alternative?

There isn't an iOS draft timer that I am aware of.

About draft timer for iOS, you have the “draft timer” app very simple and very good, not expensive.

Also the need for a draft timer is very limited.

Yes, I was surprised to learn that it is discouraged at PPTQs. I have MTG Draft Timer on my iPhone, but I downloaded it in 2014 and it's no longer available in the US app store. https://www.facebook.com/MTGDraftTimer/

What's the reasoning behind it being discouraged?

(Also, let it be known that Jeff's pun did not have limited reception. ;) )

Draft timers are less about challenging the players to make picks in a short timeframe and more about logistically keeping the tournament moving when you have multiple pods to manage. Top 8 of a PPTQ is one draft pod, so they don't need a timer to stay on task - the judges can keep an eye out for anything going sideways and fix it accordingly.

There's no real skill challenged with the time limit, and your eyes are better served watching for peeking or pack shenanigans than reading a script.

Cool, thanks. Though while I appreciate with the reasoning, I have to
disagree about the secondary comments. Being a slow drafter, I definitely
think there are multiple skills being challenged with the time limit, and I
doubt many judges are reading a script while calling drafts.
