floodtide serpent

I had a situation that came up in an FNM. Allison had a floodtide serpent with and enchantment on it. Brad used his Bident to make Allison creatures attack if able. Since the floodtide doesn't say you may return an enchantment but rather return an enchantment does Allison have to return the enchantment and make the floodtide serpent attack?

Also, in an unrelated question about floodtide serpent. Can you return an enchantment cost for the floodtide to attack and not declare it as an attacker. I would think so but I am confusing myself.

1) You don't have to attack.

Returning an enchantement is a cost to attack. When considering who you attack with, you can ignore attacking requirements (effects that say that you must attack) for creatures that have attacking costs you don't want to pay.

2) No.

Either you decide to attack and pay the cost, or don't attack at all.
