TRAVEL
We do not provide travel or hotel sponsorship for floor judges at our Classics. Information on room blocks and local hotels will be located in the Event Fact Sheet as it becomes available.
EXPECTATIONS
Judges at StarCityGames.com Classic Series events are expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at the Magic Judges Document Center. As representatives of StarCityGames.com and the Magic Judge Program, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. This includes arriving on time, and in appropriate attire.
Judges are expected to arrive no later than 8:00 am and are expected to stay until the conclusion of the Swiss rounds. If you anticipate being unable to arrive by 8:00 am or needing to leave before 8:00 pm, you must include that information in your application.
Judges at the StarCityGames.com Classic Series will be provided a StarCityGames.com judge shirt, which is expected to be returned at the conclusion of the event. The Judge should arrive with black pants, black belt, and black, comfortable shoes. During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, judges should remove, or cover, their Judge shirt.
TESTING
Magic Judge Program testing for Level 1 and 2 is available at this event.
Take a Level 2 Practice Exam and e-mail the exam ID and score, along with your DCI number, to steven.zwanger@starcitygames.com.
Anyone wishing to test for Level 1 must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the pre-test requirements listed at the Judge Wiki
- Apply to be on staff as a candidate
Judges wishing to test for Level 2 must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the pre-test requirements listed at the Judge Wiki.
- Take a Level 2 Practice Exam and e-mail the exam ID and score to steven.zwanger@starcitygames.com.
COMPENSATION
Compensation at StarCityGames.com Classics is based on judge certification level and is paid in Compensation Units (CU).
- Level 1 Judges will receive 1.5 CU/day staffed.
- Level 2 Judges will receive 2 CU/day staffed.
- Level 3+ Judges will receive 2.5 CU/day staffed.
Each CU can be redeemed for one of the following:
- $76 (Requires a completed United States tax form)
- $95 in StarCityGames.com store credit
Uncertified Judges are staffed as candidates for StarCityGames.com Classic Series Events and receive one Compensation Unit per day. If someone staffed as a candidate certifies before the event, he or she may choose to withdraw, or remain on staff in a candidate position.
Judges and Candidates also receive a gift including one free month of StarCityGames.com Premium access, a StarCityGames.com Judge rewards item, and five (5) StarCityGames.com Judge Reward Points for each day on staff. Full details about the Judge Rewards program can be found here.
SALES ASSISTANTS
The StarCityGames.com Dealer Booth is looking for judges who are interested in coming in early to work as Sales Assistants. You would be expected to arrive at 7:45 am and be available to work at the dealer booth until 9:45 am. Each selected judge would receive an additional $20 payable by check or $25 StarCityGames.com store credit.

Please note that late applications will be considered at a lower priority than those received during the official application window.
