MCS Championship

Thank you for your interest in judging the second Invitational for the Montana Championship Series.

Rook's is going to host two events side-by-side, so this will be a good test of not just your rules skills, but your logistical skills as well. 

The day will begin with the 16 (?) player invitational at 11 AM, which will be 6 rounds followed by a cut to the Top8. It will be two rounds each of Standard, Modern, and Legacy.

A second, entirely separate Standard event will begin at 11:30 AM. This event will have the usual number of swiss rounds, as determined by the number of players. Expected attendance is about 15-20 players.

Applicants for either event should be able to arrive by 10:30 AM.

Both events will be run at Competitive Rules Enforcement Level. The usual judge uniform is required: black shoes, black pants, and an official judge shirt. If you have not yet been issued an official shirt, a long-sleeved black button up may be substituted.

When applying, indicate in your application whether you are applying for to Head Judge the Invitational or the Standard event. The two judges are expected to work together on both events, and not let either event get off the rails. Applicants for the Invitational Head Judge position should already be comfortable with running Competitive REL events, and preference will be given to experienced judges. They will also be expected to help mentor the Standard event judge. Applicants for the Standard event may be accepted with less experience with Competitive events — this position is a good one for L1s who are interested in getting more experience and working towards L2.

Compensation information:

The Invitational: $125 in store credit

The Standard Event: $4 per player in store credit, which can be spent on items in store at the price Rook’s pays for them - making it more like ~$7ish per player.
