Welcome to the DMV Winter Judge Mini-Conference! This community event will be presenting various topics regarding judge growth as well as hanging out with fellow judges in DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia, and Delaware.

There will be promos avaliable for this event. These foils are available if you meet the following criteria:

•Register for the conference by applying to this JudgeApps event before Friday 1/18/19 and also before the participant cap is reached.

•Be a certified (Level 1 or higher) Judge with a correct level in JudgeApps at the time you apply, or if you certify after applying, 

Attending

All judges from the DMV area are encouraged to attend. Beyond that, any judges from other area of the region, outside the region, and noncertified judges are welcome to attend. The venue has limited seating, thus judges from DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia and Delaware have first priority. Presenters are also given priority, hint hint. We will be accepting local attendees on a "rolling" basis until space fills, so don't delay, apply today.

Schedule & Location

Seminars are scheduled to start at 11:30am, and end at 4:00pm.

The location is the Howard County Public Library: Elkridge Branch & DIY Education Center in the Belmont Meeting Room. Note this is a change from previous events. After seminars, we will move to the Historic Savage Mill and the Family Game Store for Open Play (probably finding dinner at one of the nearby places on the way).

Presentations

Thank you to everyone who submitted proposals, more than we could accept which I guess was a good problem to have. Here's the line-up:

1. Anatomy of a Judge Call - in-depth interactive discussion/seminar on the nuances of taking judge calls with Phillip Wulfridge

2. Investigations: a deep dive by Nicola diPasquale

3. Scorekeeping by Matt Braddock

4. Card Counting by Ryan Stapleton

5. Commander as a Tournament Playable Format by Rebecca Ali (postponed)

6. Quiplash is a "Battle of Wits" where 8 players respond to simple prompts any way they want. Other players, and the entire audience, vote for their favorite answers. In this edition, all prompts are judging related! Master of Ceremonies will be Matt Braddock.

Testing

Level One testing can be arranged with advance notice. Please review the requirements. Let us know if you are interested and you will be contacted by the L1 testing coordinator: Ryan Freeburger 

Level Two testing may be available. Please review the requirements and submit a self-nomination form. If testing is available, you will be contacted by the L2 testing coordinator.
