Western Washington Winter Judge Conference

Welcome to the first judge conference of 2019 for the Greater Seattle Area and Western Washington! Mox Boarding House in Bellevue has graciously offered us space to host this conference, which while open to all judges, judge candidates, and interested community members, is focused on L1 skills, rules and policy knowledge, and guiding communities.

Conference Goals

In brief, the mission statement for this conference is to focus on L1 judges improving on rules, policy, and procedures, and building good relationships with others within the Magic community. Sessions will also include a workshop focusing on the future of competitive play (and judges' role within that for events in their area). 

Logistics

Presentations will be hosted in the tournament room, with catered lunch provided by Mox Boarding House's excellent café and restaurant, starting at 11 AM and wrapping up around 5 PM. Afterwards, please feel free to join us for a social evening in the restaurant with board games and food. This is a judge foil supported conference, and foils will be available for all L1+ judges (who hold that certification and apply before the application deadline). Participants are expected to be in attendance for the entirety of the conference.

Application

The application deadline for this conference is December 21, 2018.

Testing

Testing opportunities for both L1 and L2 will be available. Please contact Stephan Classen if you're an L1 interested in testing for L2, and Richard Neal if you're an L0 (judge candidate) interested in testing for L1, though please note that L0s testing at this conference are not eligible to receive judge foils.

Presenting

At this time, we are still seeking judges interested in presenting on topic related to those described above. Please include in your cover letter if you're interested in speaking, and if so, what topic you would like to cover and the expected length of your presentation.
