Scottish Judge Conference 2019

We are very pleased to announce the fourth Scottish Judge Conference! This will be taking place on Saturday 30th March 2019. This is a one day conference and is expected to run from approx. 10am to 6pm, with an optional dinner afterwards.

Judge conferences are an opportunity to meet new people, see old friends, learn new tips and share knowledge. During the conference, we will be running seminars and workshops focusing on aspects of the judge program, all presented by volunteers like you.

The Scottish Judge Conference is open to all, regardless whether you're a player or judge, local or non-local. However, if you do plan on attending, please apply here so that we will have an accurate headcount for planning purposes. 

The Location of the Conference is: University of Strathclyde Students' Association, 90 John St, Glasgow, G1 1JH

To receive any judge foils that will be available, judges must apply before 25th February 2019. Note only Level 1+ judges who apply before this date will receive foils.

Presenters

To present at the judge conference, we would like to hear from you before 10th February 23:59 via our Google Form https://goo.gl/forms/ZRfGPl7DJOlWlg4e2.  This is to allow us time to plan a schedule in advance. You don't need to have a topic decided by then, just a willingness to present!

Note: If you still want to present after this date, please get in touch ASAP and we may be able to accommodate.

We are aiming to have a two-track schedule, allowing attendees to choose which sessions are most appropriate to them. We always love to have more presenters, contact us and we will do our best to make even the wildest ideas possible.

Schedule

The list of presenters and presentations will be posted as soon as this is available, with the schedule being posted in February.

The event will culminate with a Judge Quiz. Those of you who have participated before will likely recall the fiendishly difficult questions. Everything will be Magic and/or judging related, so while preparation is futile, attempts are welcome.

Testing

Level 1 and Level 2 Testing will be available by prior arrangement. If you wish to test for Level 1 or 2, please contact Liz Mackie in advance to arrange details.

Accommodation

For those travelling from outside Scotland, we have a few spare rooms in friendly local judges houses who would be happy to help you save some costs on visiting. If this is desired, please contact Liz Mackie. These will be allocated where most required, but don't leave it too late to ask, because we won't be leaving this until the end of the application window.

Judge Dinner

There will be an optional judge dinner following the event. No bookings have been made, so please indicate any dietary requirements and preferences when applying. If you are unable to attend the conference but would like to attend the meal afterwards, please contact Liz (as above) for the purpose of assuring we have enough seats reserved!
