Event Information
A wild training opportunity at Competitive REL appeared, and it's super effective! For the Modern Dutch Open Qualifier on April 13th in Amsterdam, we suddenly have way more players than expected, so there's room and some budget for a Floor Judge. The HJ will be Dustin de Leeuw, the TO will be Alessandro Longoni on behalf of the Gamekeeper and Manamaze, and the FJ could be you!
This is mostly a training opportunity at Competitve REL for aspiring L2 candidates, which unfortunately have become quite scarce lately. We prefer a L1 judge who's interested in judging Competitive REL events and/or in becoming L2 at some point in the future. Prior experience with judging at this REL is not required.
The TO initially didn't expect more than 32 players, but we already crossed this threshold and we're fairly sure there will be more than 32 players who actually show up to play the event. In the unlikely scenario where 31 or fewer players show up, you don't get to judge but instead you play this event for free; so don't forget to bring your Modern deck and matching decklist.
In case you get activated as FJ, you're expected to judge from 10.30 until the start of the Top 8; since this event will be 6 rounds of Swiss (remember, you got activated, so we have more than 32 players), expected end time is 17.00. Because the TO never expected enough players to justify a second judge, and because this is an excellent opportunity to gain some experience, the maximum budget available for monetary compensation is a 50 euro flat fee, from which you need to pay your own travel expenses and culinary needs.
A very important part of your assignment for this day is to actively engage in self-reflection, preferably in the form of a written self-review and/or a tournament report.
We currently expect around 40 players, even though the date will be the same as MKM Gent. We hosted already MKM Trials and everyone loved it. Our atmosphere is very relaxed and casual. We are not only playing for the top prize but we are also there to have some fun, keep this in mind when you are at the event. On May 18th we'll host another Modern DOQ!
If you're interested, please apply before Wednesday April 10th. If you have any questions, please contact the HJ directly.
