Event Information
In association with Pastimes Comics and Games, the Central USA Region Conference planning teams are excited to announce a regional conference on Sunday May 26, 2019. Unlike our usual mini-conferences, this conference is going to be MYTHIC. This extra-large conference celebrates a few things:
- The return of the beloved PTQ system (now branded Mythic Championship Qualifiers) - Pastimes is hosting such an event on Saturday May 25, the day before this conference!
- Pastimes has recently moved into a new and improved location and has invited the judge program to be a part of the celebrations!
- The Memorial Day holiday gives us an extended weekend, which we hope will provide extra travel flexibility for judges to travel in from all over the region - and our neighboring regions as well!
What makes this conference truly MYTHIC?
- Two distinct education tracks, designed to support the needs of judges in different stages of their career!
- Track One, "Making your events Amazing!", featuring a round-robin set of stations where you will get hands-on teaching and practice. This track targets judge candidates, newer L1's, or anybody who does a lot of work with in-store judging. This track would also be fantastic for non-judge store employees or even tournament organizers!
- Using Wizards Event Reporter (WER) to its fullest capacity;
- Performing the most effective opening announcements for your type of event;
- Launching a draft or starting your prerelease event;
- Taking judge calls / handling investigations;
- "I just DQ'd somebody, now what?";
- Staying in touch with the program;
- Identifying bad conduct - and working to change it!
- Track Two, "Leveling up your Judge Game!", featuring traditional lectures with some hands-on work, geared towards L2 judges and L2 candidates.
- Advanced Calls / harder investigations;
- Card Counting;
- Mentorship and local and regional levels;
- Reviews, reviews, reviews;
- Leadership

- A ton of headliner judges from within the region and without! Including: John Temple (L3 Chicago, IL Great Lakes RC), Steven Briggs (L3 Chicago, IL), and more coming!
- Fabulous gifts, to be determined! (The conference is foil supported but we're working on more!)
Applications for this event will close promptly at the end of Friday April 26. All judges and judge candidates are eligible to attend. Non-judges who wish to attend (e.g. Tournament Organizers) should contact John Temple at john@pastimes.net.
Judge applications for this conference must include a cover letter, stating your preference for which track and why that one applies best to you. Judge testing for L1 and L2 will be available at this conference. If you wish to arrange for testing at this conference, please answer the appropriate question.
Schedule: Each educational track is expected to run approximately five hours, with a break, and conference-wide opening/closing remarks. We do not yet have a start time for this event.
