Event Information
You better watch out, you better cast spells, you better take a side, or you're going to hell, Nicky B is coming, to town.
It's time for the War of the Spark Prerelease, and we're going to be holding events at both store, and we need judges for all the events!
The Sun Prairie prereleases will be smaller than normal- 18 player cap. As such, these are great events for newer judges who have not run a prerelease before, or experienced judges who want to judge and play. The compensation will be $50 in store credit, or 18 packs, plus free entry into the event.
Compensation for head judging the Middleton events will be 1.25 packs per player in the event you head-judged. You also have the option of taking your compensation in store credit at a rate of $3.00 store credit per booster pack.
Payment for both all events will take place on War of the Spark Release Day, Friday, April 26th.
Listed below are the events we will be running that weekend, along with when registration starts, when the event starts, and when the call time will be.
April 27th - Midnight Sealed, Cap 50. (Reg at 11pm Friday, April 26th, start at 12am Saturday April 27th, call time 10:30pm Friday)
April 27th - Saturday AM Sealed, Cap 60 (Reg at 10am, start at 11am, call time 9:45am)
April 27th - Saturday PM 2HG, Cap 50 (Reg at 4pm, start at 5pm, call time 3:45pm)
April 28th- Sunday AM Sealed, Cap 60 (Reg at 10am, start at 11am, call time 9:45am)
April 28th - Sunday PM 2HG, Cap 50 (Reg at 4pm, start at 5pm, call time 3:45pm)
Additionally, the smaller cap on the Midnight Sealed event comes with an additional perk - you are encouraged to play and judge this event, and you play in the event for free! Just keep it fair, keep it fun, and keep it moving along! And yes, this means all other Middlteton events you will be required to full-time judge.
All judges will need to use WER for registering players, recording match results, and printing/cutting/distributing match slips. They will also need to use RTools to post the pairings and the round clock for their event. They are expected to perform whatever preparative tasks (such as getting the right kind of table numbers up, as they are different between sealed and 2HG) are necessary to make the room ready for their event. They are also expected to read the set release notes when they are available and come ready to answer player questions and promote a fun, educational, and positive experience for all of our players. Judges should be in all black for the events.
Questions, comments, concerns, etc. can be directed to Matthew Westfox. Applications will be accepted through April 13th, and you should know whether or not you are staffed by April 17th.
(NOTE- Player caps may be raised for certain events, and there is flexiblity for each of those events, but will stay close to what is currently listed.)
