Event Information

Event Info

Hello, judges! Brothers Grim Games is proud to host a Mythic Championship Qualifier (MCQ) for MC Barcelona!

The primary event is a Competitive REL Standard event. The event will probably be 8 rounds of swiss with a top 8 cut (swiss rounds determined by player attendance). There will also be other events including a free Standard rebound event, and fill-and-launch draft and Standard side events.

If you would like to be considered to Head Judge this event, please indicate as such in your cover letter.

Compensation

Compensation for Floor Judges will be $150.

Compensation for the Head Judge will be $225.

Lunch will be provided, and drinks/snacks will be available throughout the day to staff. Compensation can be converted to Brothers Grim store credit at a 25% bonus (So $1 in cash can be converted to $1.25 in store credit).

There are two application types: Full Sponsorship and Standby. Standby judges, if accepted, are expected to be at the venue as floor staff would and ready to be activated if necessary. If not activated, Standby judges will receive free entry into the main event. If you have questions, comments, or concerns about compensation, please reach out to Kush Singhal at coolcyclone2000@yahoo.com.

Event Expectations

Judges at this event are expected to prepare for each event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. As representatives of Brothers Grim, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times.

Judges are expected to arrive on time for the start of their shift. Registration for this event begins at 9:00 AM, and the event starts at 10:00am.  This means that call time will be 8:30 AM.  This will give us plenty of time to make last minute corrections to the venue, as well as register players.  Also, if you anticipate being unable to arrive by the start of the call time, please make note of that in your application. Judges will be expected to stay through the quarterfinals of the MCQ. The typical shift length is 10-12 hours with a one hour lunch break and a thirty minute break.

Judges should be in standard Magic Judge Program attire of appropriate Magic Judge shirt, black pants/skirt, black belt, and comfortable black shoes. "Appropriate shirt" can either be an official GP black shirt (preferred if available), a regional polo, or a plain black button-down shirt.  During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, judges should remove, or cover, their Judge shirt.

Please also note that all selected applicants will be checked against the National Sex Offender Registry located at https://www.nsopw.gov.

The application window for this event will close at 11:59pm on Sunday, June 2nd, 2019. We will be accepting judges on a rolling basis. If you have any questions, please contact Kush Singhal at coolcyclone2000@yahoo.com.

Thank you for your consideration, and we look forward to seeing you!
