Event Information
Thank you for your interest in judging at Washington State Summer Con! We're currently looking for a number of judges to help run both the Modern main event as well as side events throughout the weekend at the convention. We expect the bulk of attendance to be for the main event, and are staffing accordingly – please let us know in your application if you are interested in judging the main and side events on Saturday and/or side events on Sunday. Please feel free to reach out to Richard Neal, the judge manager and head judge, if you have any questions regarding the event.
Modern Main Event
The main event will take place on June 15th, 2019, and will run from 11 AM until the top 8 finishes (estimated to be around 8 PM, depending on attendance). The majority of judge staff will be expected to be on-site from 10 AM until the end of Swiss rounds, expected to be around 6 PM.
Due to the high value of the prizes (with the top prize being a set of Revised dual lands!), the main event will be run at Competitive Rule Enforcement Level, so please be familiar with the Infraction Procedure Guide.
Side Events
In addition to the main event, a variety of scheduled and on-demand events will be run both during the main event on Saturday and throughout the day Sunday. The final schedule is in progress, but our focus will be on on-demand Modern Horizons drafts, as this falls on release weekend for the supplemental set.
Compensation
Compensation for the event will be one (1) booster box of War of the Spark per judge level per day. For instance, an L2 judge who works on both Saturday and Sunday will recieve four (4) boxes.
Attire
Judges shirts are not provided, however a button-up shirt will suffice if you do not have an official judge shirt. Black pants (or dark jeans), belt, and comfortable shoes should also be worn while on the event floor.
