Event Information
Hey Judges! I'm looking for a number of you to come help me with my first large event in Southwestern Ontario.
I will be needing 1 head judge, 1 scorekeeper, at least 2 floor judges, and at least 3 standby judges. Call time is 10am, though I would appreciate any judges who could show up for the start of registration at 9am. The head judge and floor judges will be expected to come to the event in judge attire and with a notepad and red pen. Some floor judges will be able to leave when swiss ends, but the rest will need to stay and help the head judge with Top 8. Standby judges will need to bring appropriate attire and equipment with them, but may not be required to work the event. The scorekeepr will be expected to be familiar with WER, though I will be available to offer some support, and must stay until the end of swiss.
As a judge, you may be expected to help with registration, pick up garbage, push in chairs, handle product, move equipment, perform deckchecks, count decklists, take rulings, administer infractions and penalities, provide customer service to players, work on side events, and more. You will also be expected to prepare for this event by rereading the IPG and JAR, and refreshing yourself on common Modern and Legacy interactions.
Please answer all questions on the applicaiton, and provide a brief cover letter detailing your recent experience judging (or scorekeeping, as appropriate) at Competitive. We will be looking for both full sponsorship and volunteer floor judges. Volunteer judges will not be expected to have as much Competitive REL experience as Full judges, and the HJ will be made aware of that before the event. Selecting Volunteer compensation will make you more likely to get accepted.
Compensation for judges are below. All boxes will be booster boxes of Journey to Nyx
Head Judge: 1 1/3 boxes and lunch
Full compensation floor judge, scorekeeper: 1 box and lunch
Volunteer floor judge: 1/3 box and lunch
Standby judge: Free entry into the main event. If you are needed to judge, you will be given Full compensation.
If you have any questions, contact Darcy Alemany. Also, please consider sharing this event with your local player communities!
