The venue
You can find pictures and a description of the venue here
There is a separate floor with sleeping quarters as you can also see in the pictures. Most rooms are for 12 people, with 4 beds stacked 3 high. There is also a room for 10 and two rooms for 6. One of the rooms will be designated as female-only, though mixed rooms are allowed as long as all people involved are comfortable with that.
We have visited this venue before and there were complaints that the heating was insufficient. I have asked the person in charge repeatedly and they assured me repeatedly it should not be a problem. That said, I will try to have extra options for heating available and would like to stress that everybody brings sleeping bags or blankets, and clothing that is appropriate for late fall.
The venue does not allow shoes in the sleeping quarters, bring slippers or designated indoor shoes. The venue supplies pillows and a single blanket per bed. Everybody must bring their own mattress cover and pillow cover. As there were complaints about the temperature in the venue before, it might be a good idea to bring an extra blanket or a good sleeping bag.
Chores
We will be cooking and doing dishes ourselves. People that wish to Absolve themselves from these entirely can use the 'No Chores' option and will pay €25 extra, those that don't will have maximum 2 chores over the entire weekend. In the unlikely case too many people choose this option, I will take supporting staff with me for this event.
Food and drink
As the schedule says, all meals are included in the price of the event. To go with the meals there will be coffee, tea, juice, and milk. We will do our best to accommodate people that want vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free meals, please specify in your application if this applies to you so we can shop appropriately.
The following are not included in the price and we encourage you to bring your own:
- Snacks for in between meals and in the evenings
- Alcoholic beverages
- Board Games and Party Games for the evenings
There is a cash-only bar on-site:
Soft Drink €1
Pils 1,5€
Trappist €2
Tripel €2,5
Kriek €1,5
Bottle of Wine €7,5
About the seminars
The seminars are currently in block format rather than a more classic slot format. This is because we would like to try out different formats. You can apply for a 'Lightning Round' seminar that can take a maximum of 10 minutes that will be very strictly enforced, or a 'Classic' seminar that will be scheduled in time slots of 30 minutes with the option to take several up to 4 for a 2 hour seminar (but then you'd better have great references for your seminar). We will have a preselection of all presenters and then decide the schedule together.
Classic presenters will get a full pack of the current 4 judge rewards, Lightning round Presenters will get 2 random Judge rewards from the last 3 years.
If you are a known presenter that is available that weekend but would need extra support to make a visit possible, contact me privately.
The window to apply for giving a seminar will close on September 1st.
Price and Compensation
The full price for the entire weekend is €50. Every attendee gets the then-current 4 judge reward promo cards, this includes Judge Academy Certified Judges and Judge Apps Judges. Your application will only be validated once your payment has come through, options for payment are Bank Transfer or Paypal (details in the application window).
There is also a 'Light' option in which you secure your own accommodation and breakfast and attend as an external visitor. In this case, you pay €25 and will get to join both lunches, and dinner on Saturday. You can find accommodations here that are nearby
All payments must have your full name and DCI number.
There is a cap of 70 attendees that might be extended to 85 if this is deemed interesting. Priorities will be handled in order of payment.
