Event Information
Thanks for your interest in joining us at Phoenix's first MCQ. Below, you will find all the information you'll need to be a judge at our event. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to the judge manager, Joe Klopchic via the JudgeApps email tool.
EXPECTATIONS
Judges are expected to prepare for the event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at the Magic Judges Document Center. As certified representatives of the Magic Judge Program, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. Judges are expected to arrive on time and in appropriate attire to begin judging at the start of their assigned shifts.
Floor judges are expected to arrive no later than 9:15AM and are expected to stay until the conclusion of the Swiss rounds. Team Leads will need to arrive by 9AM and will stay until the conclusion of the event.
Judges should wear black pants, black belt, and black, comfortable shoes. Judge shirt will be determined based on staff selected and availability of shirts. During breaks, or any other time that a judge is off duty, judges should remove or cover their judge shirt.
HEAD JUDGE
Joe Klopchic will also be acting as the Head Judge, however, if any L2+ applying for this event is interested in the Head Judge position, please indicate that in your application and we will reach out to discuss.
COMPENSATION
- Team Leads (2) will receive $160.
- Floor Judges (2) will receive $120
- Standby Judge (1) will receive $120 if activated. If not activated, they may play in the event for free.
Lunch, snacks and drinks will be provided for all staff members.
BACKGROUND CHECK
As required by the WPN, Phoenix Comics and Games will perform an appropriate background check on accepted judges.
TIMELINE
Applications close on Friday, August 23rd. Staff will be published by end of day Monday, August 26th.
