Event Information
Welcome to the Judge side of the Sooner Sorcerers State Championship! This event is being organized independently by Matthew Esch.
Facebook event page, which offers some more insight into the unique format: https://www.facebook.com/events/802578786762324/
This event will be a unique experience, featuring four person teams with each member battling in separate tournaments to earn match points for their team, with the top 8 teams entering the playoffs (team trios, with the limited players allowed to provide advice for the constructed players) for the crown of State Champions. Each of the formats (Standard, Modern, Legacy, Draft) will need their own judge, as well as a judge for Side Events.
For this event, we are looking for the following roles:
1 Deck Checks Lead - $160
4 Main Event Floor Judges - $80
1 Side Events Judge -$80
Expectations:
The Deck Checks Lead should fulfill all of the expectations of a Floor Judge, plus an additional mastery of logistics (since this event will likely require quite a bit more organization for deck checks) and deck checks. They should also be familiar with investigations and appeals, should the need arise for an Appeals Judge.
The Main Event Floor Judges should be familiar with the MTR, IPG, and Comprehensive Rules, and preferably have a history of Competitive REL events.
The Side Events Judge should be familiar with the MTR, JAR, and Comprehensive Rules, and have some experience launching small events.
All judges are expected to comply with the Judge uniform guidelines (found here: https://blogs.magicjudges.org/o/judge-uniform-guidelines/).
Time:
There will be at most six rounds of swiss for each event, with the addition of draft portions for the Limited event. Judges are expected to arrive by 9:00am on the day of the event, and will stay until the conclusion of the Swiss portion. The Head Judge and Deck Checks Lead will be retained until the conclusion of Top 8. Each judge will be guaranteed a full round lunch break.
Additional Information:
We will be accepting judges who have migrated to Judge Academy, as well as those who would have a certification in good standing with the Legacy Judge Program.
If you have any questions, please contact me (Gage Robelen) through my Apps page or this page. Further info for the day of the event will be posted in the Forum.
