Event Information

Welcome to the applications page for the Puget Sound BattleGround 2 (PSBG2)!

Please message Stephan Classen, drakk2@yahoo.com with any questions about the event.

Day one will be something a bit different than normal competitive events- with two 4K prize events running concurrently at comp REL.  Our aim is to staff the event with judges helping with both events, which are capped at 226 players for Modern, and 150 for Legacy, both starting at 10am.  (Legacy will likely start 10-15 minuters after Modern.) Two main side event formats are 93/94, and Canadian Highlander with on demand events throughout day 1.

Day two is a Team Trios Main Event.  The event will be standard-Modern-Legacy teams of three, with a 10K prize pool.  126 player cap, 7 rounds max with a top 8.  93/94 and Canadian Highlander side events will run at 10:30 and 11am with on demand events throughout day 2.

Expectations:

Judges will be expected to review the Comp Rules, MTR, and IPG and their most recent updates.  You can find these here: Magic Judges Document Center.  Judges will be expected to be professional, dress accordingly to the judge uniform guidelines, and begin judging at their start of shift until the end of shift. We will not be requiring Judge Academy certification for this event, but you must be a certified judge through Judge Apps by the application closing date.

Judges will need to arrive by 9:15am, and be ready for the start of round 1 by 10am for Modern, and 10:15am for Legacy.

Day two Judges will need to be at the site at 9:15 for the team trios start of round 1 by 10am.

Side event judges will have a different call time, and will be taken both as full compensation and standbye.

WE EXPECT TO NEED A LARGE JUDGE STAFF FOR BOTH DAYS.  Background checks will be performed by Geek Fortress store.

Compensation:

For each day on staff:

Floor judges/event staff: $120

Team Leads: $230

Head Judges: $310

Judges may receive store credit at Geek Fortress on request of equivalent value.

Staff will have (hopefully) a staff dinner Saturday evening after the event - we will likely find a way to feed judges if events go to late (food isn't permitted in the venue officially), so we're looking at lunch options.  There are many food areas nearby.

Judges placed on standbye will be given free entry to 1 event if not activated.

Applications will close on October15th, 2019.  Please email with any questions about this event or staffing questions.  We will be selected Head Judges by Oct 9th, 2019.
