Pioneer Mock Tournament - South Jersey

Mock tournaments are judge conferences which allow judges of all experience levels to learn and practice skills related to running tournaments at Competitive Rules Enforcement Level. We are happy to be bringing you a Pioneer Mock Tournament! This new format is extremely exciting with many crazy interactions that still have yet to be explored, and this mock tournament will give judges the opportunity to experience some of these firsthand. We ask that if you are a player that you try and bring your own deck if possible, but if not, The Comic Book Store has graciously offered to put together a few decks for those unable to bring their own.

This tournament will consist of entirely judges. Judges as players, floor judges, team leads, and a head judge. Judges and team leads will rotate through various tasks to ensure that all judges get a taste of what it is like to perform all the various tournament mechanics. All judges will get to experience things like handling paper at the start of the round, taking calls and delivering rulings to matches, performing deck checks, and executing end of round procedure. 

Support

As a sign of appreciation, Wizards of the Coast allows us to offer attendees a selection of promotional foil cards. The exact packet is not known at this time, but will include four promotional cards. These foils are available if you meet the following criteria:

1. Register for the conference by applying to this JudgeApps event
2. Be a certified (Level 1 or higher) Judge with a correct level in JudgeApps at the time you apply, or if you certify after applying, email me at pjdente@gmail.com with your updated level

Call Times & Schedule

          10AM Head Judge and Team Leads

          10:30AM Floor Judges

          ~10:50AM Players (Be present and ready to begin the tournament at 11)

          11AM Tournament Begins

          ~3PM Debrief, Feedback, and Wrap-Up

Uniform

Those attending in a Judge Role are expected to dress in a black shirt (GP Judge shirt, Regional Judge Shirt, or a polo/button down shirt are recommended), black pants/skirt/kilt, and comfortable shoes/sneakers. You'll be on your feet and taking calls for the better part of 3-4 hours. Those attending as players should dress for the role.

Parking is available directly behind the store and in the library parking lot further behind the store.

Application Cover Letter

Application cover letters are not necessary unless you are applying for the role of a judge. Judge applications MUST inlcude a cover letter. Please make note in your letter which role you are applying to Head Judge, Team Lead, or Floor Judge. You may apply to more than one role!
