Event Information

Judge Conferences are the occasion to meet new people and see old friends from all around the world, to learn and teach, to share your tips and spread knowledge. They are one of the best opportunities to get good practices and updated information passed amongst the judge community. During this conference, short seminars or workshops focused on different aspects of the judge program will be presented by volunteers.

The Judge Conference is open to everyone, regardless of Judge Level and association (Non-certified and Historic Judges are welcome as well!), or whether you are judging at your store or internationally.  If you are interested in attending, please apply so we will have an accurate headcount. The number of spots will be limited to 30 so be sure to apply!

TIME

The Swiss Judge Conference 2020 will be held from 10:00 am until about 5:00 pm on Sunday, April 12th.

After the 'official' part there is time for board games and other social activities.

The conference will begin with a meet and greet from 10:00 am to 10:30 am.
Seminars will start at 10:30 am, and there will be a lunch break from 12:30 am to 1:30 pm.
There will be seminars geared toward Level 1 (
Store level, Regular REL) but we will also have topics interesting for others. Exact schedule and content to be announced.

VENUE

The conference will take place in Bern at House of Cards.
There is a very limited number of parking spots near the venue, so we encourage you to use public transport (stops within 100 meters), or carpool.

PRESENTING A SEMINAR

If you are interested in presenting a seminar please say so in your application and email me (swiss.judge@gmail.com), if you are interested but need some ideas or a topic we can help you out.

Seminars could be focused on some skill or knowledge you got from your work or studies and you use during judging, on some knowledge or good practice you acquired about an aspect of the judge program, it could be the presentation of one of the projects you're working on, or even organizing a fun game to end the day with!

You don't need to be a world expert on the topic you plan to present, as long as you think you have something useful to share with the community.

Senior judges and candidates for leveling up in the judge program are encouraged to apply and present a seminar or workshop.

FOILS

The "standard" JA conference package for 2020 will be offered as a thank you to any academy certified judge. An additional pack will be handed out to each presenter. A number of judge foil packs have been made available by the DEATCH RC for historical certified judges. As prerequisites for receiving foils you need to be a certified judge and participate actively and in a constructive manner during the seminars.
