Please read the descriptions of the roles carefully! Maximum shift lengths are given, the average shift is usually shorter.

3-day Head Judge

Each event has one 3-day Head Judge slot available. The 3-day Head Judge is responsible for preparing the schedule, planning judge breaks, sending out pre-event judge briefings, and handling investigations and appeals during the event. On Saturday and Sunday, the 3-day Head Judge works the early shift. The maximum shift length is 12 hours. Level 3 judges are strongly preferred for this role. The compensation this role is 600 EUR (200 EUR per day).

1-day Head Judge

Each event has two 1-day head judge slots (Saturday and Sunday). The 1-day Head Judge assists the 3-day Head Judge in preparing the schedule, handles investigations and appeals during the day, and helps organize the breaks. On the day they are acting as Head Judge, they work the late shift. The maximum shift length is 12 hours for the HJ day, and 11 hours for the other days. The 1-day Head Judge is staffed as a floor judge for the other two days (it is also possible to work just two days). The compensation is 200 EUR for the HJ day, and 130 EUR per day for the other days.

Scorekeepers

Each event needs 1-2 scorekeepers. One scorekeeper will work all three days while the other works Saturdayn and Sunday. Experience with WLTR is preferred but not required. Compensation is 200 EUR per day.

Operations staff

Each event has several 3-day Operations slots. Operations staff are expected handle build-up, goodie preparation and distribution, registration, prize wall, "kickstart" and other logistics tasks, and strike tasks. Their duties may include helping with non-Magic games. Maximum shift length is 12 hours and the Friday start time is 8:00. Compensation for this role is 600 EUR (200 EUR per day).

Spotters

Each event has two Spotter slots for Saturday and Sunday. Spotters help the coverage staff get information about feature matches. Spotters take turns covering this role and will act as floor judges at other times. Since the spotter role is only needed on Saturday and Sunday, the spotters may be staffed as floor judges on Friday. Compensation for this role is 130 EUR per day.

Floor judges

We will also accept a very limited number of floor judges through this application. The rest of the slots will be filled through the normal application process, closer to the date of the event. Maximum shift length is 11 hours. Compensation for floor judges is 130 EUR per day.

General Expectations

All staff members are expected to perform their duties in a professional manner that reflects positively on the rest of the event staff and Cardmarket. We expect you to have fun, be professional and contribute to a great atmosphere for everyone to be in.

In addition to making rulings, judges can be asked to assist with event logistics, such as setup/breakdown, managing lines, pushing chairs, picking up trash, handing out prizes.

We expect every staff member to dress professionally throughout the event weekend and hold up their personal hygiene. Cardmarket will provide shirts for judges and these are to be worn with black pants or skirt, belt and shoes. Sizes S to 3XL are available. If the size you require is not available, you may wear the black judge shirt or a plain black dress shirt instead.
