Axion Now Mega Weekend March 2020

Axion Now is excited to invite you to apply for their upcoming Mega Weekend, hosted at Jury’s Inn Milton Keynes, on March 7th-8th 2020!

This will be a large and very competitive event that offers valuable judging experience and development opportunities through being part of a larger judge team. As usual, we are looking for judges willing to go the extra mile to offer players an amazing experience.

SCHEDULE

The Mega Weekend will feature 2 days of events. Both days will feature a fantastic main event (Team Trios on Saturday, Modern on Sunday) as well as an array of side events, including Axion Now's WPN Qualifier Preliminary event, Modern, Chaos Drafts and a Historic Sealed event.

SHIFT TIMINGS

We will be operating an early and late shift of judges to cover the whole day on both days. Timings for these shifts are as follows:

Early Shift: 9:00 until likely at some point during the quarters (expected around 20:30)

Late Shift: 11:30 until the end of the event (expected around 22:30)

Head Judges and Scorekeeper: 8:00 until the end of the event

If you find that your transport options would require you to arrive or leave a little earlier or later than these times, please make this clear in your application - we can work around most reasonable requirements.

COMPENSATION, TRAVEL SPONSORSHIP & ROLES

Compensation:

Payment will be in cash via online payment. 

Judges: £85

Mega Event Head Judge and Scorekeeper: £160

Standby Judges:

Standby judges will receive the regular shift compensation rate if activated. Standbys not activated will have the choice of either free main event entry or side events of equivalent value. 

Travel Sponsorship:

We will also be offering the opportunity to apply for travel sponsorship, to allow us to bring in more of the brilliant judges from further afield. You can apply for travel sponsorship of any amount. 

If you would like to apply for travel sponsorship, please indicate in your application both the amount you would like to apply for and a minimum amount of travel sponsorship you would need to consider applying to this event. Don’t worry if these are the same - we just want to make sure we can use our travel sponsorship budget to its best effect.

Roles:

All judges will be needed for tasks ranging from taking judge calls, contributing to the event and venue logistics and making sure players are having a great day. We also have a number of special positions which you can apply for. These require previous experience:

• Main Event Head Judge (L2+ required)

• Scorekeeper (Large event experience required)

• Team Leads (experienced Comp REL judges)

• Side Event Head Judges (Comp REL experience required)

You are welcome to apply for as many roles as you are interested in. If you are applying for a special role, make sure to let us know why you would be great for the job in your application.

Judge selection will be published at the latest on 29th January* 30th January to give you plenty of time to plan your travel. *Apologies for the short delay in publishing judge solicitiation.

Judges are expected to promote the event to their local communities.
