Event Information

Sawat di khrap Judges, the Regional Championships will be held in Bangkok, Thailand! Oracle Events is looking for a team exceptional judges and senior judges to take on the role of Team Lead and Head Judge at the upcoming South East Asia Championship Weekend 2024 – Thailand running from 8th to 10th Mar 2024. 

Please read the Compensation, Roles and Expectations carefully as updates have been made. Applications will close on 24th Dec 2023.

 

A rough schedule of South East Asia Championship Weekend 2023 – Thailand is as follows:

 

Friday:

  • Last Chance Qualifiers – Run @ Competitive REL

 

Saturday:

  • SEA Championship Finals Day 1 – @ Competitive REL
  • SEA Championships Qualifiers – @ Competitive REL
  • Duel Commander – @ Competitive REL

 

Sunday:

  • SEA Championship Finals Day 2 – @ Competitive REL
  • SEA Centralised Open – @ Competitive REL
  • SEA Championships Qualifier – @ Competitive REL
  • Judges not judging in Centralised Open will start with a later shift till end of last event 

 

All days:

  • Side Events – side event program catering to all players, from regular to competitive

Roles and Expectations 

Head Judge

  • You must be a L2+ if you are interested in applying for this role
  • Please indicate in your cover letter why you should be chosen to Head Judges this event
  • Coordinate and work with assigned leads to ensure that the tournament in run smoothly
  • Expected to work with Side Events Lead to ensure sufficient judge coverage for the entire tournament 
  • The Head Judge is also expected to stay till the end of the day 

Team Lead

Lead positions are available for Judge roles only at this event.
Team Leads are also expected to stay till the end of the day.
 

 Main Event Lead

  • Maintain break schedule for floor judges
  • Ensure your team is performing their tasks correctly at the event via mentorship
  • Be able to approve Back-ups & HCEs if allowed prior by the Head Judge
  • Assists the HJ in running the event
  • Be the first line resource for judges on your team
  • Assigned Appeals Judge

Side Event Lead

  • Maintain break schedule for side event judges
  • Ensure scheduled events and on-demand events start on time and run smoothly
  • Be the "Head Judge" for the purposes of appeals and investigations of any scheduled events without a dedicated HJ
  • Ensure the sides event area is clean and fit for play at all times
  • Be the first line resource for side event judges on your team
  • Expected to work with main event Head Judge to ensure sufficient judge coverage for the entire tournament 

Judge Mentor/Shadow

  • You must be L3 if you are interested in applying for this role, senior veteran L2s might be considered based on tournament needs
  • Please include in the cover letter on your experiences on mentoring and assessment of fellow judges 
  • You are expected to develop fellow judges on the day you are assigned for this role
  • Reviews are expected as it is an essential method for developing judges for leadership positions
  • Mentors/Shadows are expected to stay until the end of the day

 

All Judges
If selected as a judge, you may be asked to assist in non-judge tasks at any time.

Judges are expected to be professional at all times.

Judges are expected to wear the SEA Polo Tee with black pants and covered shoes.

Judges are requested to remove or cover their judge shirts when off duty or on breaks.
If selected for a judging role, you may also be asked to do any of the following:

  • Floor Judge Main Event
  • Be the Head Judge for assigned Scheduled Events
  • Assist Judge duties at Scheduled Events / On Demand Events
  • Help maintain a clean and tidy play environment
  • Facilitate the distribution of all side events prizes
  • Be engaged in the event you are staffed in as a Judge to provide best player experience for players

 Note: 

  • Please ensure you answer all relevant questions and include in your cover letter your experiences and goals for the event.
  • Judges who are looking for advancement may be prioritised in lieu of building up a team of experienced local SEA judges.
  • Judges who do not have their correct judge level reflected on Judgeapps, please answer the question on your level with a link to your profile on JudgeAcademy.

Compensation 

Judges will be receiving a Judge playmat and the compensation as detailed below:
Do note that compensation rates have changed to one flat rate for all judges on staff with additional compensation paid based on roles
Judges will be paid in Thai Bhat (TH฿). Rates used will be the prevailing SG$/TH฿ rate on 10th Mar 2024 rounded to nearest TH฿ 100
There will be travel stipend, do note this is extremely limited for select few judges based on tournament needs
