Eastern PA & Surrounding Area Winter Conference

On behalf Judge Foundry and the USA – Northeast Region, we’re excited to invite you all to our region’s next Judge Conference!

This conference will be held on Saturday, Jan 18th, 2025 and be in person at Alternate Universes in East Norriton, PA. Doors open at 10:00, first presentation will be at 10:30am.  The conference will include a break for lunch and will wrap up before 3:00 – 3:30pm.  Depending on attendance, there will be two simultaneous tracks running. One presentation track will be upstairs, while a smaller presentation track or workshop will be downstairs.  

This is a teaching, networking, and social event for judges of all levels and anyone interested in the Magic Judge Program. There are no restrictions on attendance based on level or region – everyone is welcome to attend.  Due to the limited spacing, priority will be given to judges in the Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Maryland regions, but all are welcome to apply.  Applications are required because space is limited.

Participants are expected to give each presenter the attention and respect that they deserve. The conference schedule will be posted to the forum once it is finalized.

Attendance, Swag, and Promotional Foils

At this time, Wizards has not revealed that there will be any foil support for conferences at this time.  BUT, there is good news!  I have a substantial amount of left over foils from various previous conferences that I will be giving out.   In addition to that, Alternate Universes, in the ultimate kindness, has donated  a large number of promotional foils (though not judge foils specifically) to distribute for future conferences as well.   Judge Foundry will also be giving out "swag" to all judge foundry member attendees.   

Attendees will receive the following:

- One old promotional judge foil card

– Two promotional nonjudge foil cards

– One promotional nonjudge nonfoil card

– Judge Swag (if a registered judge foundry member)

How do I get my hands on this cool stuff being given out???

Do you have to be a Judge Foundry member to attend this conference?  No

Do you have to be a Judge Foundry member to receive the promotional foils?  No

Do you have to be a Judge Foundry member to receive the Judge Foundry swag?  Yes

Do you have to attend all sessions to receive promotional foils?  Yes, with a heart

Who is eligable to receive the promotional foils?

As long as you have been a certified magic judge under ANY previous certication system, you are eligible to receive the promotional foils!!!!  That's either Judge Foundry, Judge Academy, or the old Wizards of the Coast Judge Program!

Presenters

Excellent presenters are an essential element of a successful conference. To that end, we are looking for presenters who are willing to push the envelope.  If you have been on the fence about presenting at a conference, now is your chance!  Most presentations will be given to an audience of 10-40 judges.  Hands on "workshop" type of presentations are preferred, if you have anything prepared.

If you are interested in presenting, please email me with your proposal at em610161@gmail.com as soon as possible. Your proposal should include:

– Seminar topic

– Ideal audience size  (minimum at least 10)

– Necessary equipment (projector, AV, etc.)

– Previous experience presenting this or other topics

We are looking to accept up to 6 presenters, so there is plenty of space for proposed presentations. We are especially interested in presentations that will engage your audience and promote discussion. Past experience is by no means required or expected, and first time presenters are welcome!

* Presenters will receive ONE BONUS old promtoional judge foil card and ONE BONUS nonjudge promotional foil card in addition to everything else.

Parking

If you’re arriving by car, please do not park in the spaces immediately facing the store fronts of the location. Park facing the street, behind the building (where there is additional parking), or in a nearby shopping center and walk over. We wish to be good neighbors to the other businesses that share space with Alternate Universes.

Note: As you are not on staff for this event, some users may be hidden from the staff list, in accordance with their privacy settings. You can always see the full staff list if you are either part of the staff yourself, or otherwise, after the event is over.
