Scheduled Event Formats and Rules Enforcement Level

In addition to an expected heavy load of on-demand Commander Pod events, CommandFest Worcester will include a variety of both Commander-focused and non-Commander scheduled events.  CommandFest Worcester will be hosting both Standard and Modern Swiss-style events, and therefore judges with expertise and experience with these formats will be needed.

CommandFest Worcester will also be hosting a marquee cEDH $5k, taking place entirely on Saturday.

Most event play, including the cEDH event, will be run at Regular rules enforcement level.  Therefore, experience and proficiency with the with the JAR (Judging at Regular REL) is required for the Floor Judge and Judge lead positions.

Judge Shift Length

Staffing for both Friday and Saturday will involve both opening and closing judge shifts.  The opening judge shift start time is expected to be 09:30 AM EST, and the closing judge shift start time is expected to be 11:00 AM EST.  Both judge shifts are expected to be a little over 10 hours each.  Note that judge shift start times are subject to change.

Judge shifts will include a one hour lunch break, and additional break time as determined by the corresponding leads.

Tournament Software Used

Most events will be run using PlayerLink, including all On-Demand event play, and all scheduled Swiss events.  The cEDH event will be run using SpiceRack.gg.

Floor Judge Description

Accepted floor judges will be largely distributed into assisting with on-demand events, and assisting with scheduled side events.  On-demand event floor judges will be expected to seat and launch on demand events, and also to assist with result collection and prize distribution.  Scheduled side event judges will be expected to either head judge or floor judge one or more of these scheduled events, including any logistical or tournament operations tasks required by that event.

Both on-demand and scheduled sides floor judges will be expected to answer judge calls for both commander-themed and non-commander-themed events, provide general assistance to players, answer rules questions, and apply policy to matches as need.

Application Deadlines and Announcement Shedule

The application deadline is Saturday, June 14, with acceptances announced no later than Saturday, June 21.  We expect to announce first-round application acceptances by Saturday, May 31.
