Top Deck Series Event: Competitive tournaments are usually those with significant cash prizes or invitations awarded to Professional tournaments. Players are expected to know the game’s rules and be familiar with the policies and procedures, but unintentional errors are not punished severely. These are tournaments that protect the interests of all players by providing tournament integrity while also recognizing that not all players are intimately familiar with Professional-level tournament structure, proper procedures, and rules. This event will follow the Magic: The Gathering Tournament Rules and Magic: the Gathering Infraction Procedure guide supplemented with the Competitive REL MTR/IPG Addendum for Commander Events as applicable. Magic the Gathering Tournament Rules: https://blogs.magicjudges.org/rules/mtr/#annotated-mtr Infraction Procedure Guide: http://wpn.wizards.com/en/document/magic-infraction-procedure-guide Competitive REL MTR/IPG Addendum for Commander Events: https://topdeck.gg/mtr-ipg-addendum

End-of-Round Procedure: Swiss Rounds: Each round is 80 minutes. When time is called, the active player receives 20 minutes to complete their turn. If no winner is determined by the completion of that turn or when the additional time expires, the game results in a draw. Top Cut Rounds: Each elimination round is 120 minutes. When time is called, the active player receives 20 minutes to complete their turn. If no winner is determined by the completion of that turn or when the additional time expires, the higher seed advances as the winner with additional rankings determined by seeding as needed.

(Scoring System): Win: 5 points Draw: 1 point Loss: 0 points Bye: 5 points Draw and Concession Policy Players requesting draws or concessions should reference the official guidelines at: https://topdeck.gg/mtr-ipg-addendum Concessions: Following the Competitive REL MTR/IPG Addendum for Commander events, players are encouraged to concede during their turn while they have priority and the stack is empty. Players who need to concede at any other time will be dropped from the event and must speak with the tournament organizer to re-enter. In such cases, a judge will facilitate any mandatory actions for the conceding player until the stack is empty, or until the end of combat if the concession occurs during combat. Players may concede collectively without using the stack.

Prize Structure: Prizing scales with tournament attendance to ensure competitive rewards for the top 16 players. $5,000 cash prize guaranteed at 100 players.

Place Holder and Play Test cards: These are colloquially known as “proxy” cards. This is a non-sanctioned event so they will be permitted. All cards must be printed (no paper slips) All playtest/placeholders must have previously printed MTG art only. The card must not be a counterfeit so must have some identifiable marking that makes it clear it isn't a real card. This can be an alternate backing, text or a gold border.
