South African Judge Conference

Hi everyone,

Another year has flown by and we are set to run our next judge conference through Magic Judges South Africa. As per polling on the WhatsApp group the date has been set to 11 January 2026. and, as usual to maximise accessibility, it will be hosted on Discord. In addition to all MJSA members, anyone South African based, interested in judging or keen to get a better feel for the judging community and is welcome to join, but only MJSA members will be eligible for compensation.

The conference is expected to run from:

11h00-15h00 - South Africa (GMT+2)

10h00-14h00 - Central Europe (GMT+1)

09h00-13h00 - UK (GMT+0)

This will include some time for a lunchbreak. Additionally, while we aim to stick to these times, please do expect a bit of South African time (flexibility). 

I would like to target 4 presenters. I am leaving topic options fairly open based on what everyone believes is a good topic. I would encourage some of the following:

• Rules and mechanics from recent sets.
• Policy or judging philosophy.
• Something broader that judging be it lore, geeky mechanic history, set design philosophy, etc. that can give judges a richer knowledge and enable varied community engagement.

As a rule of thumb presentations are to target 30-45mins, but some degree of flexibility is present.
