Dear judges,

The applications for the judge team for the The Power 9 Quest "Timetwister", organized by the cEDH PT, are hereby OPEN!

The event will occur on the 21st and 22nd of November 2026, in Lisbon, Portugal.

We are looking to build a team of around 3 to 4 judges. The main event will be run at Competitive REL and the format will be EDH (Elder Dragon Highlander, or Commander). The format and REL for the side events will vary.

The Head Judge for the main event will be Fábio Batista.

Who are we looking for?

We are looking for judges for the weekend. If selected, you can be staffed for the main event, side events, or a combination of the two. You will be expected to answer rules questions, settle policy disputes, help with tournament operations, provide players with information about the tournament, and overall be available to help players and staff have a smoother event.

English proficiency is required. Portuguese proficiency is preferred. 

You will be asked to be at the venue before the first round (exact time to be discussed later) and stay until the end of the last round for the day (or until you are discharged).

We have the following available spots:

Team Leader Saturday

Days: Saturday

(Strong Preference for judges having at least a Level 2 Certification)

Compensation per day: 130€

Side Event Head Judge

(Side Event)

Days: Sunday

(Strong Preference for judges having at least a Level 2 Certification)

Compensation per day: 130€

Floor Judges

Days: Saturday OR Sunday OR Saturday + Sunday 

Compensation: 100€ per day worked

Every judge will also receive 10€ per day worked to help cover lunch costs. If the tournament runs late on either day, judges still working at the venue will be provided with food or an additional 10€.

If you require any travel sponsorship to attend this event, please choose this option when applying and provide an estimate of your costs in the designated spaces. Please include the amount you would like to receive and the amount without which you would not be able to attend. Travel sponsorship will be decided on a case-by-case basis and is extremely limited. Please keep this in mind when building your application.

Attire

You should wear black clothes throughout this event, including black pants and black (or at least dark) shoes. Ideally, you should wear a Magic Judge shirt if you have one, but any black shirt will suffice if you don't. cEDH PT will not provide Judge shirts, but you will be provided a lanyard and a judge badge to help distinguish you from the players. We understand you might prefer wearing other equally professional clothing, and we want our staff to be both happy and comfortable. Any requests pertaining to attire (e.g., wearing a black skirt instead of black pants) should be discussed with the Head Judge and Tournament Organizer before the event and will be decided on a case-by-case basis. Please do not hesitate to reach out.

Additional information

I'm a Judge Candidate, do I have any chance of being staffed?

Yes! Even though you will be at a disadvantage when compared to other candidates, we will also consider applications from Judge Candidates (i.e., not yet L1). Compensation will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. If you or someone you know might be interested in pursuing this avenue, please have them apply or reach out to us.

Commander? Competitive? How?

Fear not, we've got your back. For a couple of years now, we've been working hard at refining the rules available here. While these aren't perfect, we've strived to make them simple to grasp at any judge level, while maintaining the necessary level of specificity to minimize abuse.

Until when can I apply for this event?

Applications will be open until July 19th.
