StarCityGames.com Virginia State Championships

The Time Capsule is hosting the Virginia State Championship tournement for StarCityGames.com's State Championships Series.

Due to the larger-than-the-store-can-support number of players expected to attend this event is taking place in the VFW Hall a few minutes drive away from the store in Hopewell, Virginia. We are looking for a great team of Judges to make this an excellent event.

Expectations

Judges are expected to prepare for the event by reviewing the Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules, Infraction Procedure Guide, and Judging at Regular REL documents. These documents can be found at the Magic Judges Document Center. As representatives of the Magic Judge Program, judges are expected to behave in a professional manner at all times. This includes arriving on time, and in appropriate attire, by 9:00 AM (it's starting an hour earlier than last time, but I didn't move up OUR start time). Appropriate attire consists of black pants with a belt, comfortable shoes, and a Magic Judge shirt. If an official shirt is unavailable, any black shirt with sleeves and without logos is an acceptable alternative.

Compensation

Judges working the event will receive one booster box of a current Magic set or $75 for compensation and will be provided with a $10 meal stipend. TO is also amenable to credit for a box of a future Magic set for Judges super psyched about core sets or some wacky Conspiracy.

Standby

Because the StarCityGames.com State Championship Series is new, there are some unknowns when it comes to expected attendance levels.  With that in mind, we would like to select Standby staff. If you are a Judge planning to come play in the tournement, but would be available and prepared to Judge the event instead in the case that we get many more than we currently expect, please apply as a Standby. Judges accepted as Standby Judges will receive full normal compensation in the case they are needed on staff, but will enjoy a reduced entrance rate to the event ($10 to enter) if they are not needed.

Timeline

Applications are accepted until October 6 and staffing selections will be announced the next day.
