Event Information
With the new PPTQs shaking up the Magic Community like never before, every judge needs to be on top of his/her game. To develop new skills (and judges) in the Michigan community, Cards in the Corner will host a Judge Mini-Conference! This conference will focus on developing newer judges. If this all sounds interesting, great, continue reading for more specifics.
Are you interested in attending? Great! Just hit "Apply Now!" Feel free to submit a cover letter with some suggestions/feedback for me as we finalize conference details.
Are you interested in assisting with the planning of this conference? Help is both welcome and appreciated. Please note that in your cover letter and you'll be contacted shortly.
Are you interested in presenting? That’s FANTASTIC, because presentations are absolutely necessary for an actual Judge Conference. We will be featuring Long Presentations (~40 minutes), Short Presentations (~10-20 minutes), and Small Group Sessions (variable) run throughout the day. We are open to other suggestions for presentation formats. If you would like to present, please submit a short description of your presentation topic via e-mail to michiganmagicjudge@gmail.com with the type of presentation you'd like to give in the subject line (Long, Short, Small Group). The schedule of presentations will be finalized no later than November 29th.
What about judge foils? Unfortunately since this is not an official Conference, there will be no foils for attendees. However, after the conference, there will be a free tournament for those who sign up. We are still working out the tournament details which will be finalized no later than November 28th.
Some logistics about the event:
Parking: Cards in the Corner has a parking lot with roughly 20 spaces available, and there are more free parking lots located within a 1-block radius.
Food: There are numerous restaurants within walking distance of Cards in the Corner. There will also be a formal, scheduled break for food around halfway through the conference.
Schedule: Our current plan is to start at 1pm and finish the presentations at 6pm, with a one-hour break for dinner. The tournament will begin after the presentations finish. However, this will be dependent on the presenters, and is subject to change.
Judge Certifications: L1 and L2 certification will be available at this event. More information about testing will be posted shortly, as well as announced via this event's JudgeApps forum, but feel free to let us know about your intent to test in your application.
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please contact us at michiganmagicjudge@gmail.com. We look forward to seeing you!
Thanks for reading and I'll see you there,
Adam Eidelsafy
