Event Information

Hello judges,

We are pleased to open applications for Bazaar of Moxen, the largest Eternal convention in the world.
Applications for this event will close on February, 18th, as we would like to announce the staff selection early March. If you have any questions, please email Kevin Desprez at kevin.desprez@gmail.com

BoM’s 7th Edition will take place from Wednesday, May 8th to Sunday, May 12th in Annecy, France. During these 5 days of gaming we are expecting more than 1000 unique players and are therefore looking for many judges to run the 19 scheduled tournaments. You can find the whole schedule on www.bazaar-of-moxen.com.

Who do we look for?

We are looking for Head Judges, Floor Judges and also 1 to 2 Scorekeepers.
Bazaar of Moxen being an international event, you must speak English to apply. Speaking French is not mandatory but will be valued when making the staff selection.

Floor judges
Since the vast majority of our events will be run at REL Competitive, we will strongly prefer applications coming from L2 or higher judges. However, if you are L1, feel free to apply, we may have a couple spots left for you.

Head Judges
If you would like to be the Head Judge of one of the Main Events, you must be an L3 or higher level judge. Smaller tournament HJ positions will be made available to L2s. Please specify it in your application.

Scorekeepers
Bazaar of Moxen is quite similar to a Grand Prix from a Scorekeeper’s point of view. If you would like to apply to be a scorekeeper, please let us know which events you have been scorekeeping recently as well as their size.

Expectations

We expect our judges to be up-to-date with the latest Comprehensive Rules, Magic Tournament Rules and especially the latest MIPG version. Our Main Events offer significant prizes and we aim at giving our players the best possible play experience.
We expect judges to behave professionally at all times, including when they are off duty: Remember that even without a Judge Shirt, you will still be perceived as a staff member.

Even if we will do our best to reduce the length of your shifts, please be aware these will be long days, as some tournaments are likely to last 10 Swiss rounds.
For this reason, we will try to not have judges work the full 5 days, so that each judge gets a day to rest.

Compensation:

L1 and L2s will be granted 1 box of product per day they work.
L3s and higher will be granted 1.5 box of product per day they work.
Scorekeepers will be granted 2 boxes of product per day of work.

Room Sponsorship:

We offer two kinds of room sponsorship (from Wednesday evening to Monday morning)
•    100% sponsored beds
•    Beds available for 5 nights against 1 box of compensation over the week-end.

In order to apply for a room sponsorship, you need to judge 4 days during the week-end.
We are aware the 100% sponsored beds are strictly better. However, we are unable to fully sponsor all judges and this is the best we can offer at the moment. We are still working on increasing the number of rooms and fully sponsored beds.
Hotels are within walking distance from the venue (no car necessary).

”Stand-by” positions

A “stand-by” judge is attending the event to play.
We will make sure to be comfortably staffed. However, from Thursday to Sunday, in case attendance would exceed our expectations, you may be asked to join the staff (this is decided before the tournament starts based on final attendance).
If we don’t need your help, you will get one free entry to an event of your choice each day from Thursday to Sunday (including the Main Events).
Note that you cannot be room sponsored if you are selected for a stand-by position.

If you like playing and don’t mind judging, this is most likely what you may want to apply for :)
Note that the number of stand-by positions will be limited. You need to be selected to benefit from this offer.

Community

We are pleased to welcome a Judge Conference at the venue on Wednesday, May 8th. If you would like to apply for it, go here !

We will also facilitate judge testing at this event. Please contact Alexis Rassel, the local RC, at rassel.alexis@gmail.com before the event if you would like to be tested during BoM so that we can plan accordingly.

We are looking forward to welcoming you to another wonderful Bazaar of Moxen.

Kevin Desprez.
