Event Information
Please read the below information carefully and click on the above link to apply. Applications are accepted through April 18th, but there will be several application review steps, so you could expect to receive an answer after a short time from your request (with plenty of time to plan your travel).
We are mainly looking for Level 2 Judges able to speak a fluent English and with experience at competitive events, and Level 1 judges (better if Level 2 candidates) for floor judging public events on Friday and Saturday.
This event will be held May 15-17, 2015. The format is Team Limited.
You may apply for one to three days (you may indicate preferred shifts), but you won't be guaranteed to work for more than two. You must apply for Saturday, since this is the day we need judges the most.
Your chances to be accepted are higher if you are flexible regarding the number of days and shifts. You must speak fluent English and be experienced in tournament environment. If you can speak other languages please indicate in your application, this would be a plus but is by no means a requirement.
We are currently working with hotels to secure a room block for both Judges and Players at a cheap price.
Please bring appropriate judging attire, including a black judge shirt and black trousers with belt. If you do not have a shirt, please let us know so one can be provided for you.
Shifts
Friday
A: 12:00 - 20:00
B: 14:00 - 23:00 (judges selected for this shift will be rewarded with an extra box)
Saturday
A: Main event
B: Side events
Sunday (on Sunday all judges selected for the main event should be available to work until at least 20:00)
A: 8:00 - 17:00
B: 14:00 - 23:00 (judges selected for this shift will be rewarded with an extra box)
C: Main event (schedule will be determined by the HJ)
As you can see, there will be several shifts on every day, and only part of the staff would work at the main event on Sunday.
Standby judges
If you're selected as a Standby Judge, you will be expected to come and play the event for free with other standby judges. However, if attendance is higher than expected on Saturday, you will be enrolled on site to judge the main event or side events.
If we enroll you to judge on Saturday but we unfortunately don't need you on Sunday, you will have the opportunity to play for free in a tournament of your choice on Sunday.
Compensation
Compensation depends on your level and the amount of days you work. Compensation is given in English product of the current set at that time (which will be Dragons of Tarkir). Please make sure have sufficient space to take all of your product home with you when packing!
Compensation rates are as follows:
L1: 2 box per day (English only)
L2: 3 box per day (English only)
L3: 5 box per day (English only)
Money refunds will also be provided as follows:
€50 daily refund (meal)
€100 one-time refund (travel)
Judges will also receive
a VIP package, containing special and unique items, designed for GP Florence in very limited numbers
a copy of every GP playmats - three versions will be produced for this event!!
a free-entry coupon for any one of the side events held during the weekend
This means that a L2 working Saturday and Sunday will receive:
6 Boxes, a gadget bag with 3 playmats, a free-entry coupon for a side event of her/his choice, and €200
