Event Information
Thank you for your interest in Victory Comic's biggest Magic weekend of the quarter!
We are looking for a number of judges to make the events this weekend a success, including floor judges and scorekeepers.
Format
Saturday, April 18: Standard Pre-Pro Tour Qualifier with $1,000 prize pool, and a Standard Grand Prix Trial for GP Las Vegas
Sunday, April 19: Modern StarCityGames.com Super Invitational Qualifier with $1,000 prize pool
All weekend long: On-demand $10 drafts
Compensation
Judges on staff, including activated standby judges, will receive their choice of one booster box of any in-print set or $135 in store credit per day worked, plus lunch. Judges on standby who are not activated will receive free entry into the event.
Expectations
Judges are expected to be on-site, in judge uniform, at 10:30 am on each day they will be working. Seatings for the player meeting will be posted at 11:00 am, so if you are running late, please call the store so we can be prepared. Most judges will be released at the end of swiss rounds, but you may be asked to help cover quarterfinals or side events.
Judges are expected to be familiar with the IPG, MTR and Comp Rules, including any updates with the release of Dragons of Tarkir.
If you do not have a Magic Judge shirt, please wear a black long-sleeve dress shirt - we may have a shirt in your size available to borrow for the day.
Standby
At our previous $2k weekend, we were near the threshold for needing an additional judge each day. As a result, we have one standby slots available for each day. Standby judges will be activated if the player count exceeds 64 players, and will be released at the end of swiss rounds. Standby judges should be on-site by 10:30 am prepared to work the event; if you are not needed as a judge, you will be given free entry to play in the event instead. If we lend you a deck to play in the event, you probably want to count it before registering it.
Testing
L1 testing will be available at this event.
Application Guidelines
Staffing for this event will by a mix of level one and level two judges. L1s on staff will be expected to have a strong knowledge of the IPG - preference will be given to L1s who are nearing completion of their L2 checklist. We are also looking for a scorekeeper for Saturday - please note in your application if you have experience scorekeeping large Comp REL events.
