Hunter Burton Memorial Magic Open

The second annual Hunter Burton Memorial Magic Open should attract more than last year's already-healthy attendance of 161 players. We used a staff of eight last year, including myself as scorekeeper. We will add one ore judge to this year's staff in an attempt to make this year's event as well-run as last year's.

We are playing Standard for the Swiss rounds. The top eight will then play a Modern Masters booster draft. Registration starts at 8:00am and play begins at 10:00am. I'd be happy for help at 8:00am but as long as judges show up by 9:00am that will be fine. Please wear your black judge shirts if you have them, with black trousers. If you do not have a black judge shirt, please try to wear all black, a shirt with a collar would be preferable to a t-shirt.

Product is a problem due to the unknown situation regarding availability of Dragons of Tarkir at this time. Compensation for floor judges will include $100 cash for level ones and $200 for level twos. The head judge will receive $300 cash compensation. In addition, each judge will receive $40 for lunch/parking. Judges will also receive various promotional items associated with the event including, but not limited to the Hunter Burton Memorial six-sided die, a keychain, a commemorative t-shirt and of course poker chips. Only 28 dice were created this year. They are being given to a limited number of VIPs along with each of the top eight finishers and each member of the judge staff.
