Event Information
On behalf of Cascade Games and ChannelFireball, I want to thank you for your interest in working at Grand Prix San Diego 2015! The dates for this event are August 7- 9, 2015. Please be sure to read the entire application carefully before applying. The application window will close June 21, 2015.
Expectations


This application covers all event roles, including judging, scorekeeping, and registration. If you are selected for staff, you may be asked to do any or all of the following:
- Judge for part or all of a shift - including delivering rulings, answering judge calls, and participating in feedback
- Work registration for part or all of a shift - including handling cash or paperwork, or managing a line
- Scorekeep events for part or all of a shift - including live scorekeeping for side events or post-event entry
- Assist with special features, such as the Prize Wall or VIP, for part or all of a shift - including awarding prizes, helping artists, or checking in players at the VIP lounge
You may answer some questions related to the above in the application. You may also be asked for further detail in forum communication. If you are selected for staff, please check the forum periodically for important news.
Tangible Benefits For You
All staff members will receive the following:
L1: $100 + 1 box per day, 1 GP SD Double Sided Playmat (Marked Judge)
L2: $200 + 1 box per day, 2 GP SD Double Sided Playmat (1 Marked Judge, 1 regular)
L3: $300 + 1 box per day, 3 GP SD Double Sided Playmat (1 Marked Judge, 2 regular)
Travel Sponsorship:
If you require extra Sponsorship for Travel, we want to do our best to make sure you can come out and work this show without losing money. We have an amount of Travel Units available (each worth $50 in cash) to help you make up the cost of your travel. When you apply, please let us know how many Travel Units you will need to be able to come out and work with us.
We know that the cost of travel greatly impacts people's ability to come to these events and we are trying this new system to take care of the people who need the most help to come out and work with us. Please be understanding with us while we work through this new system. Our goal is that this system will allow all Judges to be able to walk away from this event having had a great experience and still coming out ahead on their trip.
Status types
You may apply for one or both statuses: Confirmed or Standby.
- Confirmed means that you are confirmed to work the event. Staffing needs vary day-by-day, but Friday staffing will be posted shortly after final selections are made. To apply for Confirmed status, please select "Full Sponsorship."
- Standby means that you are not confirmed to work on any day, but that you agree to show up and be "activated" as necessary. You will be included in forum communications, and we may activate you before the event begins. If you are not activated in advance, we encourage you to show up and play.
Please apply for all status types you will accept. If you select Standby and Confirmed, we will consider you for Confirmed staff first. If you do not select Standby, we will not consider you for Standby.
Paperwork
Please note that all staff members are independent contractors and must be eligible to work in the United States. All staff members will be required to complete US tax paperwork prior to beginning their shift.
- US citizens and other US persons, including permanent residents and citizens living internationally, must complete a W-9.
- Non-US persons must complete a W-8BEN.
This paperwork is required for each Grand Prix, even if you have previously completed forms for Cascade Games.
