SCG $1k Super IQ at Geeks, Games, and Gadgets convention in Nacogdoches, TX

UPDATED: The convention has been shortened from a 3 day to a 2 day event, and we will not be running anything on Sunday.

Introduction

This is the first year of the Geeks, Games, and Gadgets convention in Nacogdoches, TX. Three Suns Unlimited has been selected to host a SCG $1k Super IQ for this event on July 18th. The convention opens at 10am and we plan on starting the tournament at 11am.

Currently we have a cap of 72 players for this event, and we are looking for a Level 2+ head judge and 2 floor judges. In the event the convention organizers provide additional seating and we have more than 72 players attend, we may need additional floor judges to help with the event.

We will also be running some side events on Saturday that we would like at least a L1 judge available, but can be someone training to be a L1 judge (please provide mentor name in application).

This will be our first time running an event of this caliber, and there is an expectation that this event will be run at the highest possible quality so that we may continue running MTG events at future GGG conventions.

Event time: IQ Registration 10am-11am. Event begins at 11am. Judges for the IQ are expected to arrive by 9:30am in judge attire.

Standby FJs will be expected to show up by 10:00am on Saturday.

Side events have not been fully flushed out yet. Side Judges will be expected to show up by 11am on Saturday.

Applications

The application period will end on June 24th. Applicants will be reviewed and selected as soon as possible.

We will select 1 Head Judge L2+, 2 Floor Judges, and 2 Standby Judges for the IQ. We may also select up to 2 side judges to help run side events on Saturday.  Standby judges may also be used as side judges. Please be sure to tell us your preference and requirements to attend in your application.

Compensation

All judges will receive free entry into the convention on the day selected for judging.

SCG will be providing us with 2 Judge playmats. The Head Judge will receive a SCG Judge Playmat. If only 1 floor judge is needed for the IQ, the floor judge will receive the other SCG Judge Playmat. If we need more than 1 floor judge, we will determine at the end of the event who receives the other playmat and other judges will have a choice between a SCG Creature Collection playmat or $20 store credit.

IQ Head judge will receive 2 boxes of Origins (or $160 store credit)
IQ Floor judges will receive 1 box of Origins (or $80 store credit)
Side judges will receive $40 in store credit

Any judges selected that are not needed have free entry for the day into the convention and may participate in the IQ at no cost.
