England WMCQ #1 - Manchester

Hi all, and thanks for your interest in the first English 2015 World Magic Cup Qualifier, hosted by FanBoy3. We are looking for 5 additional floor judges, and 1 standby judges for this event. Please read the solicitation in its entirety! Note that there is also a PPTQ hosted by FanBoy3

Sponsorship Options

There are two options that you can select while applying for this event (by clicking the "Apply Now!" button above).

Selected volunteer judges will be expected to arrive for the start of registration (9:00am) and stay until at least the end of the Swiss rounds.

Selected standby judges will be expected to arrive prior to the start of the event. If a certain player threshold is reached (to be determined), you will be "activated" and will judge and receive compensation as normal.

There are a very limited number of hotel room slots available. If you want to take advantage of this, please tick the Room Sponsorship option in addition. If you need a hotel room to attend, please only tick that box. Being more flexible is more helpful. The PPTQ HJ will be guaranteed one of these room slots.

Compensation

Compensation for this event will be based on judge level.

• Level 1 judges will receive 36 packs of a recent, stocked Magic set, or £60 in cash.
• Level 2+ judges will receive 54 packs of a recent, stocked Magic set, or £80 in cash.

Standby judges, if not activated, may play the Standard main event for free if they are qualified. They may alternatively play in Sunday's PPTQ, or an equal value of side events, if available and at the tournament organiser's discretion.

Judge Testing

Judge testing for Level 1 and 2 is available at this event.

Anyone wishing to test for Level 1 must meet the following criteria:

• Complete the pre-test requirements listed on the [O] Blog.
  

Judges who wish to be considered for testing for Level 2 must meet the following criteria:

•  Complete the pre-test requirements listed on the [O] Blog.
•  Take a Level 2 Practice Exam and e-mail the exam ID and score to scryus@gmail.com.

Best of luck to all applicants. You have until noon on August 8th to apply, in order to give everyone as much lead time before the event as is possible to book travel, accomodation, and so on. Please include a meaningful cover letter, especially if we haven't worked together, as this will be the primary method of determining selections.
