Event Information
Axion Now is proud to host the #2 World Magic Cup Qualifier for England
Introduction
Hey guys, and thanks for your interest in the 2015 English WMCQ, hosted by Axion Now. This is one of the pinnacles of the new Magic calendar, and Axion Now are looking for an experienced judge staff to help make it run. All these events will be held onsite at the Holiday Inn in Birmingham City Centre.
On Friday, there will be multiple Last Chance Qualifiers running from 2pm - 11pm and FNM (jointly run by Waylands Forge and Game HQ) from 7pm - 11pm
On Saturday, there will be the main WMCQ event plus a Grand Prix Trial for Brussels and an additional Modern Rebound Event
On Sunday, there will be the WMCQ Top 8 playoff plus the Gather the Townsfolk Team Trio sealed event and Legacy Masters Event..
We are looking for the following staff, Level 1 and higher:
1 Floor Judge and 1 Standby Judge for Friday
8 Floor Judges and 2 Standby Judges for Saturday
4 Floor Judges for Sunday
Expected turnout is between 230-300 players on Saturday. The format for the WMCQ will be Modern.
The Head Judge for the WMCQ, LCQ and Team Trios will be Ray Fong (Level 3)
Compensation
The compensation for judges at this event will be one booster display (36 packs) of a recent Magic set* plus lunch per day worked. In addition, room sponsorship for Friday and Saturday night is available for up to 2 judges who are working both Saturday and Sunday, staying onsite.
Standby judges will earn the same compensation as floor judges if activated. Otherwise they will have one free entry into any event of their choice.
*Battle for Zendikar is available for selection and will be delivered upon release date.
Call Times
Judges are expected to be on-site from 9:15am on Saturday and Sunday (Friday details will be posted separately) and stay until the end of the Swiss rounds. The tournament is expected to start at 11:00am on each day. If you need to arrive late, or leave early, please note this in your application, but know that it may hamper your chances of selection.
Best of luck to all applicants. Please include a meaningful cover letter, especially if I haven't worked with you before this will be a primary method of determining successful applicants. Applications for this event will close at noon on August 19th, shortly after which a staff will be selected. If you need to be informed of your application status before this date, please include that in your cover letter.
