Grand Prix Calgary

Grand Prix Calgary will be held Saturday July 27 and Sunday July 28, 2013. This will be Calgary's first-ever Grand Prix as we continue to expand the accessibility of the Grand Prix program across Canada.

Organizers anticipate a somewhat smaller than normal turnout for a North American GP, at around 650-800 players. There are no other events scheduled for this weekend in North America. We estimate needing about 26-30 judges for this event.

The application window will close on Friday, May 17th. Staff selections will be announced by Monday, May 20th.



A limited number of staff will be needed for Last Chance Trials and Public events on Friday, July 26. Please note in your application if you are available to work on Friday.

Judging a Grand Prix can be very rewarding opportunity as a judge. It is an excellent opportunity to learn from your fellow judges, teach your fellow judges, and network with people who share a love of this great game. It is a lot of fun, but it's also a lot of work.

If there is a specific experience you would like to get out of judging at this Grand Prix, please note that in your application. We will try to accommodate as best we can. 



Foils - Wizards of the Coast will provide a selection of DCI foils to all certified judges.

Playmats - Regular event playmats will be given to all sponsored judges. Art can't be disclosed yet, but it's top notch.

Product - Organizers will also provide judges with product from a recent Magic set. Level 3+ judges will receive an additional half box per day worked. This is extremely unlikely to be Modern Masters (just as hard for us to get as everybody else).

Shirts - Judge shirts will available to certified judges on staff who need them.

 If you have sizing needs beyond S, M, L, or XL please mention this in your application.



Food - A modest food stipend will be provided for sponsored judges. 

Room sponsorship - Limited room sponsorship is available. If you are selected for room sponsorship, your hotel room will be covered for two nights: [Friday + Saturday] or [Saturday + Sunday]. You will be sharing your room with at least one judge of the same gender. If you and your significant judge-other would like to share a room, we would like to accommodate you. Please note an special room needs in your application. L3+ judges will receive an additional day of accommodations.
