Event Information
Event Summary: The Fantastic Store is expanding from its Sports Card trading business and increasing the in store play of Magic the Gathering. This is the first large and competitive event for the organization!
When? Saturday February 13, 2016
Event format and type: The Fantastic Store is running a 128-person maximum, Oath of the Gatewatch, swiss, sealed tournament.
Tournament Details:
- The event will be a swiss sealed tournament (7 rounds)
- Top 8 from the swiss event will play a three round single elimination tournament.
Event Prizes:
- 1st - (1) Sealed Booster Case (6 booster boxes)
- 2nd - (1) Sealed Booster Box
- 3rd/4th - 18 packs each (one half box)
- 5th-8th - 9 packs each

All prizes are guaranteed! If all 128 spots are filled, each player will receive an additional booster pack at the conclusion of the event!
Judging:
We seek experienced L1/L2 Judges to support the event, and we are also building a pool of judges from which we can utilize judges for future weekly and quarterly events.
Specifically for the Feb 13 2016 event, we seek a third and fourth judge. Two judges have already been confirmed; these are standby positions.
If more than 64 players are participating, the first standby will move from playing to judging for the day. If more than 96 players are participating, the second standby judge will serve as fourth judge.
Standby Judges, if not judging, are expected to attend and will have their player's fee waived.
- Judge Expectations:
Judges are to wear black shirt, pants, shoes and belt. A custom shirt may be provided. - The store will open at 10am, Judges please arrive at 9:45 AM for a quick judges meeting.
- Judges will assist with arranging tables, chairs, cleaning packs/trash throughout the day.
- Judges will facilitate a warm environment and encourage fun and competitive play.
- Judges are expected to have prior experience participating in COMPETITIVE REL events.

- Note that judges need to be current on the Oath of the Gatewatch Set Release Notes, errata, and will have a mastery of the comprehensive rules, tournament rules, and the Infraction Procedure Guide.
- Judges will confer with the Head Judge for any Game Loss, Match Loss, and DQs.
- Judges will administrate verbal warnings and maintain game play when appropriate.
- Judges will record game warnings and more server penalties in written form. Judges are encouraged to bring pad/paper comfortable for carry throughout the day.
- Judges will post pairings and hand out match slips.
- Judges will guide players to feature match areas, and to numbered tables.
- Judges are asked to work a long day and fit in lunch and dinner activities with the on-site food services. We'll sort out a time to put your feet up and take a break! Fantastic Store Staff will coordinate food options for Judging and Tournament staff.
- Judges are asked to request and collect optional event feedback forms and provide those to the store manager.
- The event will fire at 11am for deck building and run up to 7 rounds of swiss.
- The single Elimination rounds will begin at about 8pm or slightly earlier, and the event is expected to run to about 11pm.
- Judges are expected to be "on duty" from 10am to 10pm. Head Judge and staff will oversee the last match.
- Above all, Judges are expected to provide exemplar behavior and communication skills.
- Judges' payment will be made during the round of four in the evening's round of eight
Internet
In house broadcasting of feature matches to TV screens will be taking place. Some assistance with game clock, providing video and sound using the facility's equipment may be requested throughout the day.
Individuals may have games and match play live streamed and media releases will be requested to allow your likenesses to be broadcast to the internet (at twitch.tv) during the event and in store advertising.
WIFI can be provided to Judges during the event. Judges are expected to not distribute network access codes to players.
