Grand Prix Louisville

Applying to be on Staff at Grand Prix Louisville:

We will be taking applications through August 18th, 2013. Applications will be accepted through the Judge Apps site if you have access. If you or someone you know is interested in administrative/operations positions and cannot utilize this tool, please have them email volunteer@pastimes.net with their interest, their contact information, experience and references.

What you should know:

Applying to be on staff at Grand Prix Louisville is applying to help make one of the best Events in Magic happen.  As such, we are looking for people who have a desire to help in whatever way needed to create an amazing experience for our customers – the players.  If you apply to be on staff for this event, please realize that we may (and probably will) ask you to help in any or all of the following capacities:

Judging

• Operations

• Crowd control

• Artist / Vendor assistance

• Venue/Room - set up / tear down / remodel (moving tables, chairs, straightening the room, helping keep tables clean, dealing with signage etc….)

• Product preparation

• Customer Service

• Helping with media coverage

We are looking to put the BEST staff together, not necessarily the largest.

We will be taking applications from now until August 18th, 2013.  We will post the staff list on September 2nd, 2013.

We may be letting people know prior to that if they have been accepted.

In your applications, please make sure you put down what days and what time of those days you are available.  (i.e. I can be available to help with set up on Friday morning – but I need to catch a plane on Sunday evening, so I need to be off at 3 p.m.).  Tell us your available dates/times in your cover letter/application.

Compensation

Staff for this event will receive base compensation of one box of the most recent Magic set per full day they are helping. All certified judges volunteering for at least two days will receive a selection of promotional foil cards from the DCI.  Level 3 Judges will receive one extra half box per day.  Staff may opt to convert boxes for $100 in Pastimes.Net credit to be used on-site or online.  

For this event there will only be "Full Sponsorship" - which includes product compensation and the compensation detailed below.

In addition to your product compensation you will receive the following:

• L1 Judges will receive $70 per day

• L2 Judges will receive $80 per day

• L3+ Judges will receive $90 per day

If you are available and interested in scorekeeping, there are options for this at the L3+ pay scale.  You can apply to work one day or multiple days as a scorekeeper.  Please note that working as a scorekeeper can affect your foil allocation.  If you are interested in scorekeeping, please note this in your application - including what days you would be available, and what your experience is (please list references).

Judges will have to complete appropriate tax forms on site before receiving payment.

Foils

All certified judges working at least two days will receive packets of judge foils equal to their certification level.

There is no hotel sponsorship for this event.  Judges are expected to make their own arrangements regarding where they stay.  A hotel block will be shared shortly.  Compensation goes towards all costs including travel and per diem.

*Certification testing

We will be offering L1 and L2 certification.  If you are an L1 and interested in testing for L2 at this event make sure to include the following information in your application:

• How long you have been a L1 judge?

• Who tested you and at what event?

• What events you have worked? (It does not need to be complete, just a few for examples)

• Some other judges you have worked with.

If you know of anyone that is L0 and interested in testing for L1 at this GP, please have them email judge@pastimes.net  

*Be certain to include the following information with your application:

• Which days and shifts you are available to work.  Please include all options you are available for.  (Please note - If you are requesting Friday, we will need some staff starting at 10 AM, some starting at Noon and some starting at 2 PM.  All staff are expected to be able to work a shift on Saturday.  Sunday shifts will include early, mid and late shifts.  The late shift will begin at 2 PM and we will ask for you to work until events conclude.  If events run past 11 p.m. there will be an additional $40 in compensation for these judges.)
